Parking at start of track to Twislethope (NY451968). Track up Caulker Grain, Din Fell, Hartsgarth Fell, Scawd Bank, Wetherhorn Hill, Cockplay Hill, Twislehope. Only very faint bits of ATV-cum-FP in irksome veg when not on the main drag to Roan Fell. | Isbjorn | 04/04/2023 |
Easy walk up from Wetherhorn Hill. Lots of ferrel goats up here. Descended by fence along Watch Knowe, then steeply up to Pike Fell. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 25/07/2021 |
Parked at farm entrance then out track past pack of baying hounds. Cut across heather to Din Fell then back again to track all the way to Roan Fell. Then out and back to Scawd Bank and Wetherhorn Hill. Didn't go off ridge as there is a new deer fence which may or may not cause trouble. | SS | 24/04/2021 |
Parked at entrance to Twislehope Farm. Din Fell, Ewe Hill, Scawd Bank and Wetherhorn Hill. | PGCE | 11/03/2021 |
From Twistlehope, kind Mrs Farmer let me park but advised normally walker parking is at the cattle grid by the road. Took farm track heading E until due S of Geordie's Hill then straight up steep, rough, tussocky, snow-covered pasture. On to Tamond Heights -> Mid Hill -> Scawd Bank -> Wetherhorn Hill. Considered a re-ascent of Pike Fell, but snow depth made for hard work so missed it. Otherwise pleasant 11km round in excellent weather. | jonglew | 22/01/2021 |
A nine summit trek around what I'm calling the Twislehope Horseshoe (cos I love the name), taking just shy of six hours in total. Up the track from Twislehope farmhouse (hounds still very yappy) besides Caulker Grain. Doubled back to take in Ewe Hill, then skirted the glen head to Din Fell. Pretty tough heathery ground occasionally made easier by old 4x4 tracks had to be reversed to get back on the large stone track that now goes all the way to Roan Fell. From here there was another heathery detour to take in Wetherhorn Hill, before getting back on the main ridge to Scawd Bank. Heading west involved an up-n-down to Pike Fell before the homeward straight across Mid Hill, Tamond Heights and finally Geordie's Hill. As the winter sun finally dropped, sheep scattered as we crossed grazed fields back to the car parked at the entrance to the track to Twislehope. Frozen ground certainly helped today - this could be a wet-footed wander on a milder day. | summitter | 30/11/2019 |
Parked at start of track to Twislehope, then circuit Ewe Hill, Hartsgarth Fell, Scawd Bank and Wetherhorn. Very soggy crossing to last hill. | Aye Jimmy | 10/02/2019 |
Easy parking by entrance to Twislehope at 451968 & up Din Fell & Roan Fell. From Roan Fell, back along track to fence junction - W. along faint ATV track on S. side of fence to unmarked summit. Continued to Wetherhorn Hill. (S) | gerrybowes | 26/06/2018 |
din fell, scawd bank, wetherton hill c/w from near start of track to twislehope. | robertphillips | 08/07/2016 |
Anticlockwise round from Twistlehope road end taking in Geordie's Hill, Tamond Heights, Mid Hill, Pike Fell, Scawd Bank, Roan Fell and Ewe Hill. Clear winter's day, brilliant views. Route followed fence most of the way, tussocky and heathery much of the way, intermittent quad bike tracks - ground part frozen which was a bonus - would have been boggy otherwise. | Crib Goch | 28/02/2016 |
From Twislehope, Ewe Hill, Din Fell, Roan Fell & trig, Scawd Bank, Wetherhorn Hill. Nearly 5 hours of zero visibility, intermittent rain & howling wind. | agentmancuso | 14/04/2015 |
