From Tweeddale via the back road into the wind farm up Wills Cleuch. On fatbike in snow, Very sunny on ascent, but cold and windy with lots of spindrift later in the day. Last bit up from the road/turbine was quite icy. Then an easy ride over to Black Dod.fasgadh19/01/2023
Verge parking at end of public road NS991225. Forest tk to jcn at NS997223, up tk SSE through White Gill Wood (would be difficult to spot point of forest entry in descent). Over pt 506 to Pinnacle, Yearngill Head, Black Dod, Whitecamp Brae, descent to Petrifying Spring, Campshead, tk on S side of Camps ReservoirIsbjorn16/09/2022
MTB - Pinnacle [Midge Hill] - Yearngill Head - Broad Hill - Black Dod - Great Hill - Whitecamp Brae - Scotts Dod - Coomb Dod - Hillshaw Head - Hudderstone - The SeatPeteF12/08/2022

Parked up in wide logging road entrance off A701 ~800m N of Fingland (NT 0544 2029). Up onto Black Dod then Great Hill first. From there took a line steeply down, across Risingclaw Burn and up to meet unmapped wind farm road a bit S of Wills Cleuch Head. WF road round to WB. On to Ewe Hill for a mostly pleasant 12.8k round.jonglew19/01/2022
ACW from patch of hard standing on the single track road before the gate to Whelphill. Across the Mid Lock Water, up the windfarm track towards the ridge, over Rodger Law, on to Lady Cairn, then back to Harleburn Head, Pin Stane and Clyde Law, North to Black Dod and Whitecamp Brae, South and then West to Broad Hill, Yearngill Head and Pinnacle or Midge Hill, continuing along the windfarm track W and donning a headtorch for the descent to the car. An unspectacular rollercoaster of a walk, but with views in all directions if you can avoid the wind turbines and offering mainly dry track walking after prolonged rain.Nick Down130/10/2021
Parked on hardstanding by junction at 987204 for a round of 9 Tumps and 3 subs. 7 hours. Track from Black Dod. 9/12.PGCE23/03/2021
Lockdown revisit from Normangill via Yearngill Head ridge. On to Cat Shoulder & steeply down Slate Brae. Lunch stop at the fishing hut, then long trek out by reservoir. Once past village followed old narrow gauge track parallel to road. Longest post-Covid walk so far, 21.4k, 638m, 5h35.agentmancuso21/02/2021
With Claire (who didn't summit). From Black Dod on WT road. Return to car via reservoir road. Rough going down West side of hill but an unmarked quad bike track can be picked up part of the way down.MickyRoss07/02/2021
Round of Pinnacle, Yearngill Head, Black Dod and Whitecamp Brae from Normangill. Return via resevoir.benalder28406/12/2020
From Hillshaw Head. Followed the grit roads for some 4km south, diverting on grass to the summit. Found a track down the south ridge into the cleuch, following it west back to the reservoir, and on the south side back to the car. Solo.Man of Kernow123/04/2019
Parked at end of public road at 993227 then followed road round Camps reservoir. As the road ends you will notice a good 4wd track straight up the shoulder to 600m from the summit when you have to go through lots of tussocky heather and windfarm crap to arrive at the summit which is adjacent to turbine 241. If you asked nicely at the fishing permits office by the dam they would probably let you drive to the hut at 013215ish but that would be cheating but not in a gale with rain showers as it was today.Thearlaichdubh24/03/2019
Using new access road so boots dry - would be easy round on bike. Whitecamp Brae first then out and back to Pinnacle rescuing a sheep that had become entangled in rope on way - plenty shepherds in my family tree!SS14/10/2018
Same route as gerrybowes. More turbine development than my map indicated making for a lot of track walking. Great visibility today.cjo25/08/2018
Parked on hardstanding by junction at 987204 - Roger Law - Lady Cairn - Harleburn Head - Pin Stane - Clyde Law - Black Dod - Whitecamp Brae - Yearngill Head - Pinnacle. Descended from shoulder of Mossy Dod to car. Total distance: Approx 28km (quite a bit of backtracking) of which almost 24km was along gravel motorways! (S)gerrybowes08/08/2018
