Logged Descriptions  (logged by 43 users)ByDate of Ascent
From Linhope layby, through Linhope farm then straight up Lightning Hill. Followed the fence to Wether Law, Millstone Edge then to Cauldcleuch Head. Back to Millstone Edge then Tudhope Hill, Carlin Tooth, Bye Hill and Dod Hill. Back down to Linhope using the same descent as Smocks & Denim. Just shy of 12 miles, frozen ground made the going a lot easierGary Heath19/01/2024

Parking in large layby on E side of A7, 150m N of start of track to Linhope (NT406014). Linhope Burn to big barn at NT419004, then ATV track up Wether Law, along ridge to Millstone Edge and on to Tudhope Hill. Descent over pt.483 and down to Sunhope Hass bealach. Steeply, directly, up Carlin Tooth (not as bad, or as long, as it looks), over Bye Hill and on to Dod Hill. Returned 400m SE to join ATV track which descends back to the earlier big barn (NE flank of Dod Hill is defended by high fencing around tree plantation). Learned what ridiculously steep gradients these ATVs can be driven up and down.Isbjorn08/04/2023

Started from the forestry entrance north of Geordies hill and followed the SMC route to Cauldcleuch head, from here I made a change to the descent route to take in five Donald Dewey's Millstone Edge, Wether Law, Tudhope hill, Carlin tooth and Ellson fell. Seven hours for Thirteen miles with 3800ft of ascent, the climb up to Carlin tooth is particularly brutal at this stage in the walk. After Ellson fell there is a track over the 494 point which leads to the road all being a couple of miles from the finish.WAYNE ROWLETT05/05/2022
A round of the Linhope valley. With B,B and R.jenx12/01/2022
I took the caravan down to Moffat for a few days and of course the weather was less than good, until today when I'm heading home. I got Cauldcleuch Head (619m, a Graham & Donald) yesterday in the Scottish Borders between Hawick and Langholm. I parked at Linhope on the A7 and started at 12 noon. There was a slight navigational mishap with me ascending Wether Law instead of Millstone Edge, which meant I had to walk an extra 2km around to Millstone Edge. It rained all day and started snowing as I approached Cauldcleuch Head and kept snowing until I got down below 300m, by which point it was dark. I got back to the car thoroughly soaked 5hrs after starting.chillyman803/01/2022
Parked in layby by entrance to Linhope for nice circuit of 7 summits. 2/7.PGCE12/03/2021
Parking on wide grass verge W side A7, through Lindhope Farm, along valley floor for ~1.4km, then straight up hill side. On to Lightning Hill for a short 6k round.jonglew01/09/2020
Detour from Millstone and return before heading to Cauldcleuch Head. Some ATV tracks. Solo.bolton21/07/2020
CW circuit from car park in Billhope forest access road. ATV track up Tudhope Hill, Millstone Edge, an out and back to Wether Law, over Langtae Hill to Skelfhill Fell and Cauldcleugh Head. The return by North Mid Hill leads to a good vehicle track alongside the Billhope Burn. I'm fairly sure I had an eagle circling overhead for company, along with the third Borders fox in as many walks, as I started back along the track and evening fell.Nick Down106/03/2020
Parked in layby 100m N. of Linhope entrance at NY 4063 0147 - Along track, turned left just before black shed & up grassy SW ridge to summit; much of climb on ATV track. Back down ridge & continued to Carlin Tooth. (S)gerrybowes04/01/2020

From end of forestry track above Billhope straight up Tudhope Hill then on to Millstone Edge. Out and back to Wether Law before the rough passage to Cauldcleuch Head (no ATV tracks). Came down to Stob Fell then followed markers to Bught Shank with a pleasant enough road walk to finish.SS31/03/2019
