Logged Descriptions  (logged by 27 users)ByDate of Ascent
Tight parking for one at start of forest road (NT532013). Forest roads NNE until where road stops ascending and levels out (approx NT554036). The forest on the W side of the road here is impenetrable except for where a deer track pushes through – this is difficult to identify – look for two stunted trees forming a flat bottomed V on the W side, look through the V and 20m beyond. This exits onto open ground followed by fragile ground of rotting trees through a thin belt of trees which exits onto a grassy track to the top. Followed this grassy track back S along a wide grassy ride, severely churned up by motorbikes – just before the trees on the E side of the ride peter out, a FP heads off SE – this emerges back onto the forest road about 200m N of the stream crossing at NT550027, at an overgrown lichenous boulder and lead acid battery. Easy. Take your pick, break an ankle or get wet feet.Isbjorn06/04/2023
Drove forest road, parking opp a break at NT 5581 0391. Took break ENE till it widened out then steeply up over rough mossy-boulder strewn ground.jonglew19/10/2021
Followed gerrybowes route. Excellent summit views. Spotted this hill with its large summit cairn, from Fanna Hill last year.ger30/04/2021
As mae and gerrybowes. There is an ATV track along the ridge: passes close to the high seat at NT 5508 0353 - eases the tussocks a little.PGCE13/03/2021
Evening trip taking fire break from west. Made mistake of taking left at the split and had some tree bashing. Came down without any issues (take the right going up).SS26/05/2019
As mae. Parked in layby at NT 53712 03569 & keeping close to edge of forest, up left side of burn to confluence at 547033 - Took right fork & keeping to left of burn, up to open ground & large summit cairn. A fair bit of tussock, but intermittent faint paths helpful. (S)gerrybowes29/03/2019
From mae's layby took a line mostly outside wood except at top, no sign of path so very rough going all the way, bit of an ordeal. Huge cairn at summit.Aye Jimmy17/11/2018
Parked car at whitrope and walked in by hawklaw plantation track. Left road below summit up a small forest ride to cairn.alanm906/04/2018
gate shut today, followed mae's route up side of the stream.robertphillips09/07/2016
From just north of pt263m on B6399. Prob one firebreak up from mae's route. A few twists & turns but no difficulty getting to the top. Last Yeaman on LR80.agentmancuso14/04/2015
A faint path heads up through the wide gap between plantation and burn, starting at NT 53712 03569 (lay-by). Go right at a T, then fork right when the burn splits, to reach open ground near the summit. No trees to deal with on this route.mae21/02/2015
Drove up track till I got just below top, found way through young trees on grass to deforested area, easily over this to gain grassy bank then top.Anton17/06/2014
Track from B6399. South then north. Firebreak through young trees. Some of the open ground was treacherous - Left overs from felled trees.chrisbien11/09/2012
