Cefn Coch-Coety Mountain-Coety Mountain Boundary-Gwastad-Mynydd James-Mulfran from north. Couldn't say much about first 3 as visibility down to about 30m which made things interesting. Happily cleared for middle part of day. | TK | 09/03/2024 |

Circular route from Cwmtillery taking in Gwastad, Coety Mountain (and boundary 'top') Cefn Coach and Mynydd James. Last of the day, and pretty much indistinguishable from the others. Picked up stone-lined drainage channel at 215070 for easy descent. | milimana | 25/03/2017 |
From Blaina, circular walk inc. Mulfran and Cefn Coch. Mixture of muddy quad bike tracks and off-piste over rough tussocky ground. Snowed quite hard at one point, but nothing settling. | jonglew | 09/04/2016 |
Circular route from Cwmtillery. Useful car park at 21781 06091: Mynydd James, Mulfran, Cefn Coch, Coity Mountain & Gwastad. All round topped hills. Route via various quad tracks with a fair bit of yomping across heather thrown in. | Cas-gwent | 02/02/2016 |
Coety Mountain, Gwastad, Mynydd James, Cefn Coch and Mulfran. Parked at the Whistle Inn - 12.93 miles. On my own and went pretty fast 3h 54m.Ground south of 21287 07592 looked higher so I tramped about a bit there. | clivevilla | 07/10/2015 |

8/8 This was the last part of major circuit of the 5 peaks on plateau....like all of the peaks here no trig pillar summit climbed down valley from gwastad and had very steep climb up from dam through the trees to get to top... | Fergalh | 13/12/2014 |
Starting from the bottom of the Cwmtillery resevoirs. We made our way up through the fields east of Cwmtillery and up onto Gwastad. We found that a lot of the rights of way shown on the map or nonexistent now. We did manage to find tracks most of the way along the ridge to take in Gwastad, Coity Mountain, Cefn Coch and Mynydd James. We had to fight across heather, tussock and blaeberry to reach the first three summits which was very tough walking. Trying to find our way back off Mynydd James was incredibly difficult. We ended up going very steeply downhill through 7ft bracken before eventually finding a path much further down. Wouldn't bother doing this again, but it was a fun day out. With Keith. | islamidget | 09/08/2014 |
From Cefn Coch and valley at 218 088. No nasties. I did on sunburn day... :-) | dicky | 19/05/2013 |
Dull heather moorland best climbed from the Ebbw Vale side. | PeterKirkwood | 31/12/2012 |
approached via cefn coch. Using this way their are few footpaths to the summit and their is a long walk over open moorland, but this can be quite enjoyable in a remote way. Summit at SO 21311 07513 | hodder | 09/11/2006 |
