With Jo, from Linbriggs. Footpath to Linshiels, then continued SSE on track and across 2nd pasture to gate at NT 89588 05679, then ATV track almost to summit. Visited southern summit and then used clear ATV track from col between summits back to aforementioned gate. Weather; hail showers, cool breeze, good visibility. (NB: route only suitable on non-firing days) | amblerbob | 29/04/2021 |
Room to park just off the road at Linshiels. Paths to the top of Barrow Scar then through hummocky grass and heather > Calf Lee. | JohnR | 16/04/2021 |
Footpath to Linshiels then diagonally across pasture to ATV track at approx. NT896056. This goes nearly all the way to the summit area. Deep heather on top. | mae | 25/08/2019 |
What a nightmare! Avoid in August. Parking at Linbriggs, into Linshields then along the river bank. Once you reach the first river crossing the nightmare starts. Dense bracken hides the path floor and fallen trees necessitates crawling underneath. The best way I found was on the way back. Do not to follow the legal line but to stick to the river bank until you are due north of the summit. Here a vague track heads upwards, regaining the legal line at a waymarked gate ..... then, its virgin heather. 90 miserable minutes. | moorsman | 31/07/2019 |
Path from NT 896 059 passable just - high bracken. Trod on ridge from NT 901 059. Tops in knee high heather | carole engel | 20/07/2019 |
Crossed river as others at Linbriggs, across pasture then up shoulder of hill through woods. Heathery top with boulder then across to other summit, also has boulder at top and looked/felt higher. | Aye Jimmy | 08/05/2016 |
