First of a tough day with Hoar Stone and Horse Stone to follow, not one to look back on with fondness, more questioning what on earth I am doing with my spare time.Alfa1M17/08/2023
From Langsett Flouch car park with Richard. Round of Hoar Stones, Horse stone Naze and Outer EdgeLongwojo11/08/2023
A sunny afternoon walk from the summit of the Woodhead Pass. Hoar Stones, Outer Edge, Margery Hill and Horse Stones. From Hoar Stones it was simply a case of following the path to the trig point, although it's boggy and indistinct at times. A peaceful trig and summit, a nice little edge with some views closeby.meltdiceburg13/05/2023
Parked in the car park on the A616 just south of the A628 at SK 201 013. Followed Barnsley Boundary route to Hordron Road, then along it up Hordron Clough and Laund Clough - all easy going. Short pull up to Hoar Stones, then across to the impressive summit tor of Dewey Horse Stone Naze, back to Hoar Stones and then along the nice track on the ridge to the trigs at Outer Edge and Margery Hill. Back down the bridleway all the way to the car park. A splendid warm and sunny day on the Howden Edge. 21km with 500m ascent in about 5h 30m.silveracorn_alan23/03/2022
From end of Derwent Reservoir. Horse Stone Naze, then along high ground to Howden Edge. Dropped down over Upper Hey back to Slippery Stones and track to car. With B, B and R.jenx19/01/2022
15.6 mile walk from Langsett up Cut Gate Path and along to Outer Edge (4th time bagged) and Horse Stones Naze (2nd time bagged) descending into the Derwent Valley and climbing back across the Cut Gate Path back down to Langsett. Perfectly clear and sunny apart from the nearby fog bank that didn't shift all day. Didn't effect us though. A bit boggy from Outer Edge to Horse Stones Naze but not too bad. Didn't see many others apart from around Langsett. 747m ascent.DanTrig17/01/2022

With K and RM from Langsett reservoir carpark which was heaving with people. Fell in a bog. Had intended to bag more in this area but short days and lack of condition were against us.Ashley29/11/2020

From SE 1827 0118. Hoar Stones -> Horse Stone Naze -> Outer Edge, and return, 10 miles. Only real heather bashing was between 2nd and 3rd hills, otherwise tracks, of varying degree of wet peat.jonglew30/12/2019
3 of 6. Not much time wasted quick pat of the trig and kept movingThe-Z-Man08/09/2019
Steady climb from Langsett on a scorching hot day. Plenty of fluids taken. The view at the summit is spell binding. Interesting cross approaching the summit, respecting the tragic death of PO Denis Kyne in 1943 - air crash. The descent was made hazardous by some stupid antics by a few over-enthusiastic bikies going way too fast. Next time I'll climb up from the Derwent side, and take in Howden Edge, and Margery hill too.Sirloincloth26/08/2019

Up from Langsett. Very frosty. Enjoying cracking the ice on the peat until disappeared up to the waist into the peat! Had to be pulled from the peat!MrChris198019/11/2017
From parking on A616. BW to Margery Hill, High Stones, Upper Hey, Outer Edge, Hoar Stones, Horse Stone Naze and back via Outer Edge. Path very wet and indistinct in places. Lose it and going in heather is slow.PeterD04/09/2017
Whilst travelling from Margery Hill to Outer Edge suddenly dropped to my armpits in a peat bog whilst my dog (a Jack Russell) looked at me with a puzzled expression. Had to spread my body weight and literally swim to get out. Quite scary when walking solo. Happened at SK183966 so please be careful. Mobile phone in pocket was wrecked!!John Eley13/08/2017

Topped by a trig point. The summit offers good views into the Woodhead valley, down over Salters Brooke and on towards the hills above Langsett. Quite boggy on the approaches, care is needed.Peter_wth04/06/2016
Solo as part of the high ground loop. Some loud and snow flurries but weather brightened as I left this one. Heading towards Margery Hill.Aimless Rambler30/04/2016
Came up from Crow Stones Edge. These rocks were great for scrambling on. With Eire, Evan, Sail, Danu, Coel & Alfie. Sleet and hail on the way back to Lady Cross.Dangerous Dave09/04/2016
From Langsett car park, onto the saddle below Margery Hill (fell in a peat bog!) then up to Outer Edge, Howden Edge, Horse Stone Haze. Back via The Porter / Little Don River valley.BobHancock27/02/2016
Circular walk from Fairholmes, walking along the reservoirs then up onto High Stones, along to Margery Hill and even further along to Outer Edge (done both before) then continuing onto Horse Stones Naze, then followed the river Derwent and the reservoirs back to Fairholmes. 16.4 mile walk, we were thankful it was frozen if not this would be a hideous walk.DanTrig26/02/2016
With Jo, from Langsett: paths to Cut Gate Head, then onto Margery Hill (and Margery Stones), then across to Outer Edge before visiting the fascinating Rocking Stones and returning via Cut Gate Head. Weather; sunny, light breeze, warm, good visibility.amblerbob06/09/2015

Parked by end of the Windle Edge road, then walk to Lady Cross -> Round Hill -> Hoar Stones -> Horse Stone Naze -> Outer Edge -> Margery Hill -> High Stones, then attempted to find Upper Hey (proved quite hard from above!) before going back the way I came. Back to the car then a quick trip up to Dead Edge End too before coming home (thanks moorsman for the suggested route :) )the_adam28/05/2015
