First of the 'Dernol Round'. Ascended the bw through Pen yr Ochr farmyard, meeting the friendly farmer. Missed the bw by following the clear farm track slanting up the hillside effectively cutting off the corner. Light snow covering. | Rob Rees | 31/01/2021 |

From Pen Lan-fawr headed SE past Carn nant-y-ffald, a shelter built on top of Bronze Age cairn, & then a steady climb to the unmarked summit. A bit tussocky, but much of crossing along sheep trods & ATV tracks. Descended SW ridge to track & back to car. (PM continued to Moelfryn) | gerrybowes | 30/01/2018 |

Part of a circle from Pont ar Elan. Started with Esgair y Llwy, then Pen Lan-fawr, Cerrig Llwydion, Moelfryn, Penrhiw-wen. Mostly done on path (some indistinct) and sheep trods. A fair bit of hummock grass but never ankle breaking stuff. Basically a good, solid walk. Good views all along the walk but pity about the wind farms. | MikeM | 09/04/2015 |
