Turn off the main A66 onto the minor road to Matterdale End, park on the verge at Swinescales. follow the lonning opposite to the end and go through the gate and follow the wide path to the top.smocks and denims12/09/2023
Parked on the A66 then followed the minor road to where the track starts. Followed this to gate which leads to summit. There are works going on in the final summit field. Earth movers and tractors. No one there on my visit though.Alan Caine21/06/2021

Possible to park on the track north of the hill where it leaves the minor road at Swinescales (alt 265m). Brisk walk along the track, crossing one gate, before it turns south towards the summit. About 25 minutes return.moorsman10/05/2018
Solo. Parked on old A66. Followed forest road from Tarn Moss Nature Reserve. Followed drainage ditch, just after second fire-watch tower, to edge of forest. Climbed barbedwire fence. Easy stroll to summit, out of site of farm. Back same way.Dangerous Dave19/11/2017
