From track junctions to east and recently made forestry tracks easy access to top and on to Back Borland. Hurried back to support community owned pub at Gartmore and to catch 2 hourly bus home. Pub only opens at 5pm Tuesdays.lordtonult15/03/2022
I have a strong preference to avoid habitation when ascending hills, and didn't like the look of the approach from the farm. So I parked SW of Drymen Road Cottage and cycled NW then N, past some impressive water transportation engineering. After crossing the Kelty Water, on a long flat straight section I turned right, under the power lines, and then in 200m found a track not shown on maps or aerial photos. I followed this bonus track up and over the hill, to where it ends at a turning point in the middle of felled forest. From here the mapped ruined buildings across the burn can be seen and easily reached using some of the logging vehicle routes. Despite heavy rain, and the cleared forest, the going here was surprisingly easy. Just over an hour return for the trip.Minto16/12/2021
