7th/7 tumps in Loch Ard Forest from Aberfoyle. Forest thinned out. From track to NW. Loose and dangerous barbed fence just before summit, narrowly escaped injury. On the way down I discovered a place where I was pleased to find the barbed wire hand been cut. | Topographer57 | 06/02/2024 |
Garbeg Hill and Kirkton Hill from Aberfoyle carpark, tracks / paths most of the way. | Tisteln | 29/12/2023 |
From road to the north. | colazione | 10/11/2023 |
After Garbeg by bike. Parked to the north and a pleasant ascent through the bluebells, picking up balloon litter, to the summit area. Money is on the boulder and the fun of a climbing summit. Tree in the way (just like the other summit candidate but was able to drape myself over the point. A lovely hill best done before the bracken season | fasgadh | 13/05/2023 |
Drove along the minor road to the north until NE of the summit. A simple walk through beautiful woodland from there ... although a little damp underfoot in places and a bracken festooned summit this time of year. | summitter | 23/09/2022 |
From track to north. | lordtonult | 01/07/2022 |
Hill 1 of an anti-clockwise round of 7 Tumps from Aberfoyle car park. Thought about using a bike, but decided it would be more of a hinderance. Easily up open woodland from track to north | Minto | 24/03/2022 |
As sclater, no access problems, gps confirms top. Freezing but no ice, sunny, wind but sheltered by trees. | iangalbraith | 10/02/2021 |
From parking area at start of Doon Hill walk to track end SE of summit. The final hundred yards is fiercely defended by close packed firs. Reached anthill cairn on all fours. Forest tracks to S of Kirkton hill, passing a forlorn set of picnic tables and some squashed metal pipes. Through a bluebell glade to the summit. Just beyond two mossy rock ribs, a large boulder beneath a pine seems highest. I used the head above summer rule to avoid damaging the small tree growing on it. The direct route back E involves confronting an awkward drainage ditch and another belt of close growing trees, so it is probably better to return on forest tracks. | Nick Down1 | 08/05/2020 |
Walked up from bridge to S of cemetery. Easy going up through broadleaf woods. Deer fence near top is damaged and easy to get past. | sclater | 02/03/2020 |
Combined with Doon Hill. Accessed from N. | chrisbien | 15/05/2019 |
Very boggy short ascent from the road. With Brian R. | Play2End | 16/02/2019 |
Not the best, to put it mildly. With Ben. | hillsman | 02/11/2018 |
