From Carnferg all on short heather and good ground to top of Brakenstake. 5 of 5 Tumps on circular from Birse Castle. From top, headed east to pick up hill track heading south downhill to car park at end of public road.Jossker29/10/2022

3 of 5 with L, John & Becks on a sunny blue sky day. Found a rusty old sprung fenn trap in the heather on this hill (for trapping weasels, stoats, squirrels, rats). They become illegal from 2020 -i.e tomorrow. Carted this one off to the scrap yard a day early. Although inert -still wary when poking fingers into rucksack for the sandwiches.Chris Pearson31/12/2019
From carpark at Ballochan. Easy walk up track onto the moor, which is intensively managed for grouse. Over the hill then crossed the Burn of Auldgarney and joined the Fungle Road to descend past Birse Castle, and the farm in Ballochan. Beautiful sunny day. 8.6km.PiranhaFish15/09/2019
