Round of 4 hills from distillery low cloud today so decided not to venture up high. Some great woodland and intresting cairns. Take care to avoid steep cliffs/outcrops to east side. | cjo | 10/03/2024 |

6 tops from easter balmoral, craig gowan, canup, ripe hill, creag nan gall south top, creag nan gall, creag an lurachain. | robertphillips | 02/07/2021 |
After school run following a supply teaching day at Cathie. Strong winds suggested this sheltered forest outing - first visiting Prince Albert's Cairn from where forest tracks led to an old granite quarry - blocky ledges remain- was this where the building material for Balmoral Castle came from? A nice open pine forest with pine needle carpet becoming bilberry and heather before summit cairn. Got a phone call from L saying we had been invited to dinner in Aberdeen at 6pm and asking where I was?! It was now 4.45pm. Got my skates on - dined at 7pm. | Chris Pearson | 09/09/2020 |
Parked just up the hill from Easter Balmoral for free. Easy path to Prince Albert's cairn and Creag an Lurachain. On to Canup to avoid the swarms of Covid-breath tourists, over the Gelder Burn bridge and the logging track. Interesting route up a faint path getting steep through deep vegetables to the top. Easy descent along a mown path, towards the Dee at first but curves round to join the logging track not far from the upward route. Would be an easy route up. On to Craig Gowan via Princess Alice's cairn, up the W side, down the E, easy path back. | Gill | 29/07/2020 |
These so-called royals must have had big egos judging by the size of all their memorials. | alda | 23/03/2019 |

Tall wide meml cairn on outcrop, hence exact natural HP location unclear. After Gowan, from Easter Balmoral. Then to Ripe | RHW | 07/10/2018 |
Easy stroll through open woodland. The Princess Royal's cairn is probably the top but there are a couple of other contending bumps | Colin Crawford | 03/11/2015 |
