Parking at end of track just east of the Bridge of Bogendreip. Multiple choice tracks but all lead onto the main fire track that contours round west side of the hill at 200m. As the track starts to go downhill look out for an excellent MB Track heading up into the wood from SW. This goes all the way to the top unobstructed bar passing through a shiny metal gate in a high fence at approx 270m. The summit trig is surrounded on 3 sides by thick firs but track leads in from open side. Nice little afternoon stroll. | Jossker | 02/03/2024 |
Forestry track from Bridge of Bogendreip. Once W of summit went directly up straight through the trees. Once over a deer fence these got much denser, but still passable by following plough trough. Love the Gissa Job sign next to the Trig. Returned SE by a much more open path adjacent the clear fell. Once on forestry track circled back to CP. | summitter | 29/07/2023 |
Weather fair. | MountainMac | 27/05/2021 |
The firebreak made it easy to access but the summit & trig pillar are still well concealed by trees | LizzieG | 02/05/2021 |
Circular with Kerloch (Marilyn). Fire break from NO 6748 8947 blocked by endless wind-throw. Break from NO 6804 8957 virtually clear. | carole engel | 18/10/2019 |
a 5 hr walk with L, now on a looping descent on forest tacks from Kerloch on a hot (28 degrees) beautiful summer's day.
Monster forestry machines had gouged out 2 feet deep ruts on one track - luckily baked dry today. Devested post-felling forestry remains looked like one of those films of the aftermath of the Mt St Helens volcanic eruption. Craig of Dalfro itself still forested but open enough to weave a pleasant way up without thankfully any battling through trees or stumbling over brashings. Good to find the trig. Mushroom collector (!) out hunting in lower woods - their vehicle parked on track with several buckets full. | Chris Pearson | 25/08/2019 |
The trig point is rather tricky to find. Started from Bridge of Brogendreip and followed mapped forest roads and tracks to the upper fence - north west corner. Followed this south to a block of sitka spruce. Turned uphill through semi open and larch until way blocked by sitka spruce. Found a ditch/path to continue ahead. When way blocked again by sitka spruce, found a way to the right through the spruce to semi open summit area. Walked up and found the trig to my left in a niche surrounded on three sides by spruce. Pleasant walk in autumn with the larch in colour. | JohnW | 23/10/2018 |
18.05 With trig hiding discretely behind a larch tree. Feel part of a select small band of dedicated enthusiasts to visit this one. It is actually really accessible as it is straight up a forest ride from the track to the south east and easy under foot. It also has quite an atmosphere of mystique. As one gets higher up the forest ride, three felled trees give a psychological if not much of an actual physical barrier to further progress. Then ahead the ride closes off into a short tunnel like doorway as if through to a promised land beyond. As if to add to this slightly 'mystery dell ahead' feel, rather bizarrely I noticed that there were two bits of pine branches over to the right about eyelevel before this 'portway' that have been sprayed pink. WTF!!! So through the doorway and out into a more open bit of final hillside. But where is the trig I wonder. When eventually getting to it, up to the right and back of the clearing it's position is almost demure, as if shyly hiding slightly b | vegibagger | 19/06/2013 |
