Parked overnight in car park just west of Cruarg. Walked down road to Heritage centre and then up tarmac road to Hartfield and continuing on landrover track up Srath Maolchaluim to east end of wooded area. Climbed up through heather into Coire Glas and steeply but easily up grassy gully on the right to bealach between BaC & MaD. Climbed MaD 1st and then returned to bealach and up short rise to top of BaC. Fantastic views across to Skye & Raasay.Jossker16/09/2023
Large parking area NG722466. NW up steep grass/heather from end of wood NG731478 to ridge - no problemscarole engel15/09/2023
From Hartfield centre along the track to block of conifers at the end of this block up Coire Glas. Nice and easy just steep.Andrew Simmons27/08/2023
With Peter Cottam. SMC route by the burn pretty horrible. Andrew Dempster's rising traverse from before the plantation may be better. Returned along the ridge which is full of interest and may be the best ascent route too. Galltywenallt25/10/2022
Path towards Sand, then up the quite complex broad ridge. Returned more or less the same way, but it’s easier picking a good line on the way down. Fine rather hazy views.Jon F17/06/2022
From lay-by near heritage centre, track up Strath Maolchaluim, Coire Glas (steep) to summit down SW ridge. 5hours20 on a wet & windy day.rogreeves16/05/2022
Beinn a' Chlachain and nearby tops from Cruarg. Walked up road / track by River Applecross, climbing to Coire Muchdaroch and on to Meall na Fhuaid. Continued to Meall an Doireachain and Beinn a' Chlachain and descent via long SW ridge. Weather started OK but deteriorated to rain and low cloud.RobertP06/05/2022
Parked by road at Heritage Centre (NG711457), walked a short way down road then along road to Hartfield Outdoor Centre, continuing on track until past the conifer plantation, then NW up slope, on the S rim of Coire Glas (on a fine morainic ridge) to the top of the steep slope, then across rocks and bog to the summit, descended SW along ridge edge, finally turning S steeply down slope to reach road at Cruarg and back to start (3h45m)kdbennett02/05/2022
From Parking due west of summit. Don't. No steep rises as from the Hartfield centre but endless ups and downs, and one cliff not shown on my map. Very windy!iangalbraith06/03/2022
Second day of an OMC camping meet at Applecross, with Stuart Macfarlane, Lucy McNee and Simon Walsh. Started at 10:50 parking near Cruarg along the path to sand then cut up east along the boggy pathless slopes, several crags cut across the slope which require some minor rpute finding. The summit trig is within a wind shelter. Misty to begin with but this cleared as we ascended and I prob got too much sun. Descended the same way except with a very steep pathless descent straight back to the car for 17:10.chillyman822/08/2021
From the Hartfield centre, up to Meall an Doireachan and then over to Beinn a’ Chlachain.Peterb02/06/2021
Guide book suggest straight up se flank from around Hartfield but that looked very much like the masochist's route to me. Settled for up and down the W ridge from the contouring path. It is true that it is not exciting but views over to Raasay and Skye are stunning.dickscroop01/05/2021
Drove past Hartfield then cycled short distance to end of forest on the left. From there, direct ascent up to ridge, steep but just enough wind and cloud for comfort despite the warm and humid air.Topographer5729/06/2019
On heatwave still day w Dave Wragg. Up glen from hostel, steep up south coire wall, down long ridge and terrible descent to S and road, time includes walking to pub. Rounsfell27/06/2019
From Hartfield house, along the track to the end of the plantation, then up the very steep ridge, with good views of the coire. Turn right at the top and stroll to the trig. Very quick descent, smooth, dry ground.Gill06/04/2019

Route as arranc, but found it reasonably straightforward despite hill fog from about 300m.Owen B10/07/2018
Parking at NG 7050 4565. W initially, to the milestone (found), then NE. Ultra windy day, couldn't really stand at the top, headed over to Doireachain then steeply down SSE to pick up good track along Srath Maolchalium to return. With Steve Lewis.jonglew14/02/2018
With D Roeder. Parked by Hartfield Hostel. NW along track to end of wood then up SW edge of Coire Glas to plateau and to summit. Sunshine, great views. Back along plateau edge for about 2k then with some difficulty down v steep slopes back to car (13:10)dbb18/05/2015

From Hartfield House.ChrisR16/03/2015
With Jenx from Hartfield Field Centre. Parking beside track outside. Cut up to forest edge above hospital then good deer tracks providing an uphill traverse under crags. Above a knoll a break in the hill allows easy access to the ridge, from there to summit is an easy walk. Back over the 5H top and down coire rim direct to track and back to start. from hartfield hostel strath maol chalium up steep slopes next to sitka wood to ridge line to summit.robertphillips16/11/2014

Trig revisit. From SW, rather hot climb from road then nice ridgewalk.RHW30/04/2011
Parked beyond Applecross in a car park by road. On road and onto gentle WDP crossing the brow of the hill. Over dry moor grass with small boulders. Steady plod uphill using large slabs to ease going to a prominent cairn at 10.40. On larger boiler plate slabs with many losses of height - one scarp needed a 500m detour - many lochans, also needing detours to get round. To top at 12.00. 12' dia 5' circular wind break around column 9801. Strong SE wind. My 1,100th Marilyn in Scotland.arranc11/09/2008
