Parked in lay-by just outside Garth. Along BW to Ffos farm, challenged by occupants as I headed up FP as they wanted me to go along BW. Relented but told me to watch out for cattle in field. HP in pasture, came back down across fields to the SW to join FP. UA completion. | PeterD | 08/02/2020 |
Parked at about 868912 up road and along track towards farm. At farm gate the farmer's wife (with dogs) was upset with me because I had climbed the gate (it had a big chain so I assumed it was locked) and she misdirected me down the lower path. I had to work my way up through woods and brambles so descended a more direct route but that had one or two difficulties too. | clivevilla | 23/09/2018 |
Spoke to farmer at Ffos. Said that the hill was on private land. Wouldn't give me permission to go to the top as there was a bull & calves in the field. After some discussion he said he wouldn't stop me but it was at my own risk. Went for it & never saw the bull. | ngthack | 20/08/2018 |
Parked on outskirts of Garth and walked up track to SS 869 912. There is no issue now with the gate or pigs, just a couple of horses. As I approached the farm at Ffos the owners dogs appeared behind the gate but there is no need to go through that gate as the track goes right and up to Garth hill from there. A nice hill and great day for a stroll. | Father Ted | 06/11/2016 |
Climbed well defended locked gate at SS 869 912 but good track all the way to the flattish top with long grass with Chris Peart and Colin Crawford. | Dugswell2 | 02/07/2015 |
With Doug and Chris, by the gate and track route. Rain spattered all of the way | Colin Crawford | 02/07/2015 |
1/5 First of five on a very miserable wet day. Nice climb with good views but bear in mind the summit is on private land. I asked permission from the local farmer | Fergalh | 15/01/2015 |

park at 869913. Welsh person in house said something about private parking on the bridal way entrance. get over the padlocked and pig proof gate across the path, through pigs and goats and too friendly horses and to grassy top. | arranc | 08/10/2013 |
Parked in Maesteg, on Anuerin Bevan's Way and took the disused railway line north to Ffos, then cut south to Garth Hill summit. Visited Moel Cynhordy next to bag the destroyed trig pillar, returning via Cynhordy Farm, minor roads and the disused railway track (different section) for a pleasant 7 mile walk. | jonglew | 22/06/2013 |
Parked easily on roads to NW. Then path. A bit of DIY to get to ridge - one bw fence - no gate. Summit longish grass. | destaylor | 07/03/2013 |
