This was my final Arran Marilyn today, bar Holy Isle.. a bit damp.. But fairly benign little 480m hill. Though on gentle mainly grassy slopes on way down probably going too fast, slipped and lost my footing, struggled to stop my momentum as I tried to regain balance but eventually deliberately fell as only means of stopping myself before I got to any rocks. Pulled a muscle on my left leg which winced from time to time so had to take it gingerly down rest of the fortunately fairly gentle grassy slopes. Also later on realised it's lost one of my pairs of glasses in the tumble.vegibagger05/03/2024
From Dougarie Lodge, found the ATV track - it would have been tough without it. Enjoyed some mild scrambling higher up on the slabs and spotted a pair of divers on the loch on my descent.Chris Peart05/07/2023
Parked car at area marked Parking for Boathouse. Not sure if they wanthillwalkers using this layby, but the v large fenced off area had its gate closed Followed sign for Footpath. Path then estate track. After second ford look for two sets of stones whichsignifies the start of atv. Knee thigh and then waist high vegetation. This cant be used so much. Path will take you toloch. Then follow your nose. Lovelysumit with differnet views of main risdge. Ground v v dry.VerySlowPlodder09/06/2023
A delightful Marilyn walk up from Dougarie Lodge. Splendid view of Corbetts and the Graham. Very windy. Enjoyed this a lot.nickywood104/05/2023
Via the 2 wee cairns at 898382 followed the quad track to nearly the clear summit. Retuned S from the summit to roughly the boathouse on Loch Lorsa, not a good idea, boggy yurgh!! Should have taken the same track down as up. Majestic views and hill.DavieRuts02/04/2023
A fine day for the final outing of our week on Arran, taking the usual route from Dougarie and finding the ATV track after the second ford. Very dry going today, the grass almost crispy underfoot, though unpleasantly tussocky on the final approach.milimana16/09/2022
With Rosa on the rest day of a NT working holiday planting trees in Glen Rosa. From Dougarie with a bit of snow on the way down.mindlessflogger13/11/2019
Great view of Loch Tanna.RichardMurchie10/06/2019
Solo from from Dougarie, up Loch Iorsa then south ridge to summit. Down via Cnoc Breac & Glen Scaftigill.Chris Mac23/02/2018
With Gill Stephens on her 800th marilyn. From Dougaire on a wet day with cloud on the hill. Ford in spate, wading through at calf-depth - a fine start to the walk! Faint track from there to the top. On to Ceann Reamhar over rough boggy ground - and a re-crossing of the stream 2.7k NNE, this time at knee-depth.jonglew20/11/2017
A short walk in the rain for my 800th Marilyn, enlivened by the ford being a bit deeper than usual.Gill20/11/2017
From Dougarie. After the ford up to Loch Sail Chalmadale over rough tussocky terrain. At the loch a faint track towards summit but not an atv track to be seen. The summit gives marvellous views to neighbouring hills and out to Kintyre.NormanW19/11/2017
Solo from parking spot at Dougarie. An ATV track starts about 100m up from the Iorsa road at 898382. It disappears beyond Loch Sail Chalmadale but reasonable going to the summit. 3hrs 40 return.bolton17/11/2017
Just enough time for this fine hill before dusk. Red sun dipping behind Kintyre. Lovely.Alex C17/11/2017
A long day starting with this one and going across to Beinn Bhreac and Meall nan Damh. The initial footpath leading to the track to the boathouse was incredibly boggy and had to take off boots to wade across one of the burns which was in spate. Took direct line up from Boathouse to summit.AndrewFinnimore05/09/2017
From Dougarie. Bypass path to NW of Dougarie Lodge. Good ATV track from Glen Iorsa past Loch Sail Chalmadale.Owen B17/05/2017
Dougarie to Catacol. Battling strong winds all day.Smudge11/02/2017
Nice walk up Glen Iorsa then u grassy SW ridge.Topographer5703/06/2016
up from dougarie lodge, good track then atv tracks to the top.robertphillips15/05/2016
2nd hill of 9 today on a route from Whitefarland point to Catacol bay, climbing Ceann Reamhar and then breaking out of the forest to open moorland. I decided not to lose the height I gained and so instead profiled round close to Dubh Loch (almost stepping on an Adder on the way) to drop my 70 litre rucksack next to a large granite outcrop at the foot of the granite cliff-face just east of Mullach Buidhe. I then went solo using the ridge South of Dubh Loch and the lower slopes of Cnoc Breac to contour round to climb upto the summit of Sail Chalmaldale from the North. Re-traced steps to retrieve rucksack.Dazingdale10/05/2016
Cool and sunny walk from track to north of Dougrie Lodge. Then track then quad track towards lock then up steeply to summit.Dugswell223/04/2016
Parked at Dougrie. Bus to Thunderguay and the excellent lochan path to start of ridge. Full traverse inc Sail Chalmadale on brilliant clear sunny day. Out via the Lodge track to car.nordicstar20/04/2016
Good walk over all the tops.jenx20/04/2016
Solo jog up from Dougarie Lodge.amswanston10/05/2015

cont fr Mullach Buidhe) Fr Dubh Loch S along ridge to top (16:00). Cloud lifted. Back, then steeply up into cloud over S top of Beinn Bharrain (18:00) and down NW ridge to hydro track (not as good as path) and back to Pirnmill (19:30). 17 kmdbb16/04/2014
Long walk from Dougrie to Catacol with day Graham Foreman on a sunny, light wind and perfect visibility day. Some tracks on the hills. Dreadful trackless descent into Fairhaven from Meall nan Damh.alexmaclennan29/09/2013
Solo HFB15/07/2013
Cycled 12 1/2 miles over the String via Machrie to Dougarie. Left bike by the Lodge followed a diverted signed path at the back of the big house to rejoin the track leading to Loch Iorsa. Uphill over rough stuff and even worse stuff 0 1 14 miles of step by step deer grass where you were never sure what was going to be 2' below the visible level. Awful! Two boulder runs still in mist last 1/2 mile over pleasant purple heather. My last Marilyn on Arran. 30m - 3,200'- 8 1/4 hrs.arranc31/07/2010
From Dougarie. On the track burns needed fording and a fight through boggy ground after the boathouse.Eddie26/10/2009
From Dougarie Lodge, walked up Glen Iorsa until clear of trees then straight up slopes (saw an adder) past wee lochan to nice grassy/rocky summit and cairn.Aye Jimmy31/07/2009
