Route broadly as per LizH below. Mature forest still standing between track and summit though extensive logging is currently happening at various points along the track in. | 49pp | 07/02/2024 |
Parked at 331000 and walked back across the cattle grid to an old wall, crossing about 300m of rough ground to a visible new forest track. Followed this track to meet the track marked on the map at NX345 995. Walked on to NX35164 99207, then into the mature forest and easily up between the trees to exit into the clearing at NX35013 98939 a short distance from the summit. Re-entered the forest at NX34947 98944 as this looked like a good FB, but windfall block this part way down, so back into the forestand through the trees to come out at a 'dumping area' at NX35034 99365, which we had considered as an entry point. (The blocked fire break probably comes out at NX34893 99476. Our ascent route would have made a better descent.) Walking out I continued on the new forest track for an additional 750m, exiting onto the road at the 313m high point where the car could have been parked. | LizH | 10/07/2020 |
P nr Palmullan Bridge, dull but relatively painless plod along a wide FB which becomes a track eventually then narrower FB from N of top. Choked by windfell, so again diverted through trees for a fair distance. | agentmancuso | 17/08/2019 |
8th hill of 12 today on a tough circular route from North Balloch, climbing Daljedburgh Hill, Craiginmoddie, Doughty Hill, The Pilot, Knockinculloch, Clauchrie Hill, Fore Fell and then Sw via forest ride to open pasture area, circumnavigating the property to explore cute waterfall before heading on wide forest ride to the open summit area with the distinctive conifer. I wandered around the area for 5 mins before heading off SE then NE to reach forest track. Next hill: Stob Hill. | Dazingdale | 10/05/2017 |
Parked track end 331996. followed forest boundary to clearing up to tv arial at 342985 from where you can see rides to high points. Goodish ride NE arriving at clearing with shooting buts at 351985. Found sequence of 'walk' trods N from the big ride and NW corner all the way to the summit clearing with the tree. Returned from end of track 345994 - mild torture. | Eddie | 18/09/2016 |
Sitka forest as a birthday treat. With MAE who is Submarilyning unlike me, who is Humping. | Martin R | 04/06/2016 |

OK summit & view. from 331000 follow wide break to 345995, tk to 350993, ride S to summit | RHW | 21/04/2003 |
In from Tallaminnoch, on ebikes, via Forest road. Left Redbreast to walk to Linfern Loch, to try and catch big blue fish marked on map. Up through Forest using F.B.s then open ground at Top. Summit beside lone tree. Saw Goldcrest back at car. With the F.C. | The Captain | blank |
