Clockwise circular from Denholm Village Square. Headed south out B road, then SE up track through fields and then path through woods before final short climb to summit. It was a sunny but cold breezy day so was thankful that the knolled summit area had a few sheltered spots out of the wind to sit for a while and take in the views. Continued east dropping steeply down to deer fence on edge of wood which we followed down to track back through Gilboa Wood and picked up the Borders Abbey Way track back to Denholm.Jossker15/10/2023
Solo. From Denholm along Borders Abbeys Way. At Spital Tower there was a signpost to Ruberslaw so I followed this. Shortly after Spital Tower the route diverged from the Borders Abbeys Way going SW on a good track and then southwards on a good path to the summit. There were a few signposts on the way. Neither track nor path are shown on OS maps. Back same way.pwbellarby30/09/2023
Walkhighlands circuit on a misty morning from Denholm. Views cleared while at the summit. Head high bracken, gorse and brambles on the way down.the pigguy 07/09/2023
Nice walk from West Lees. My 250th Marilyn and 500th Hump.Alan Caine09/07/2023
My wife dropped me off at the start of the forestry track opposite West Lees. I had to wait as a very large forestry lorry turned out of the track onto the road. I would warn anyone from parking there as it took a few attempts to turn the 90 degrees onto the road. Easy ascent up the forestry paths till reaching the signposts directing you to the edge of the trees then up the path alongside the deer park fence. A great little summit area.KevPalmer05/05/2023

Up from minor road to E via track passing through fenced deer farm then onto steep upper slopes. Grand view and view finder at trigSpudGunn18/09/2022
Solo 4/4. A fine hill. From limited parking near Hallrule farm, up straight track to open hillside, followed south slopes over minor south top, scrambled up a short crag below summit. Grand views, contoured clockwise around eastern flanks to look at the crag and rock climbs.Nick Canute17/09/2022
Dzrove south of Denholm and parked car next to a bench on start of footpath. Checked that crops in adjacent fields had been harvested. Eventualky had to walk on field edge , as vegetation at waist height. Then a guddle….through the intriguing sandstone ‘drumlins’. Eventaully fields were seen, again field edges, gates, electric fencing. I opted to walk along edges and spy the next gate. Out by was reached, then follow well trodden path to a great viewpoint. Had a long chat with farmer, who is Organic and we discussed green pastures for happy cows. Quick return to eat lunch on bench. A v shapely hillVerySlowPlodder12/09/2022
From West Lees on forest track and signposted path.Winterfloodian14/05/2022
From West Lees, parking just up into the track. Good forest road, then signed after that.jonglew01/11/2021
From West Lees as others.vuirich18/09/2021
Used signed path through West Lees Plantation and clear path to summit area. The only interesting summit area on this trip.m0jla06/09/2021
2 of 2: Parked at West Lees then as per gerrybowes. Lots of flies. With Karen.ChrisR07/07/2021
Parked just inside entrance to forest track at West Lees NT 5959 1586 - Up to end of track by deer fence & fingerpost at edge of plantation at 589158 - Turned right & up good waymarked path to summit rock by trig point; interesting toposcope on trig point. (S)gerrybowes23/06/2021

Pretty much followed route in the Southern Upland hillwalks Cicerone guide. The gate by the deer fence isn’t actually padlocked, there’s a brass colored carabiner hung from it which makes it look so. No stags about so we went that way despite the off putting signage. Nice way to spend the morning.Jim T01/09/2020
Parked in space near West Lees Farm and followed the route described below through the forest. Signposts helpful. The final short section before the gate onto the hill was overgrown in bracken, briars and gorse. An hour up and down plus a wander round summit area to take in the views and remains of earlier settlements. Damp.Roblex26/08/2020
Tried to go from Whitriggs as per the Hugh's book but big deer fence with kept out signs and locked gate so drove around to West Lee's parked at the end of the track into the Forest and followed the track then waymarked path up to the summit. Returned via same route. Great little hill with great views from the summit round trip 2.2 miles.JulieB18/07/2020
Tried to climb from Whitriggs, but there are new deer enclosures & sign stating 'No unauthorised persons beyond this point'. Instead drove round to West Lees. Good path through trees, then less good, path through gorse & bramble before gate on to open fell KeithByTheC18/07/2020
Ran/walked from forestry road to E. Sun came out after Storm Dennis. En route Edinb-Ldn. Rounsfell20/02/2020
Easy route up from the A6088 although very boggy ground just off the road at the start. You can see the top from the start of the walk and so it is very easy to navigate. Great weather and very good views from the top.PaulJN28/10/2019
From Hallrule, signpost along track at NT59241429 and along route; we went over Cloon Crag on the way up and below to its W on the way down, here interesting moorland with rocky outcrops to the best summit (even though most were Donalds or DTs) of our 11 day holiday. With brother, Pete. Rain was making an impressive advance from the SW and was readily tracked from this isolated dolerite hill; it hit us just 10 mins from the end. Then we drove to Kelso for a nice look round in the dry.pwheeler22/09/2019
Last hill of our Scottish holiday, parked just after entrance to West Lees farm east of the hill then followed forest track opposite, quickly turning onto another track heading up the hill, just when I was starting to doubt a path existed we got to a signpost pointing to Rubers Law, then followed a nice little trail along the field/forest boundary up onto the hill, great views from summit of the local area incluing the Eildon Hills/Black Hill we did the day before, weather wasn't great; hot and muggy with swarms of flies everywhere until we reached the summit with a welcoming breeze, a few people on top who looked as if they spent the night up there, retraced steps back to car then a 283 miles journey back home.DanTrig23/06/2019
Same route as Clach Liath except when up on open ground there was 12cm of snow lying but I just managed to follow the path to trig. No views. up and down in 50 minutesCoinneach03/04/2019
From East with GN. Access blocked at 595155 where there are impressive and recently built high fences. Access at 596159 where parking for 1 or 2 cars. Friendly wave from farmer. Easy walk through trees to route directed by finger posts. Good hill and well worth visitingtrimarc227/03/2019
From West Lees where there is room (just) at the entrance to the forest road. The road is followed to a junction where the left fork is taken and then to a couple of finger posts that point the way, first along a grass path and then into open fields. The way is obvious. There are stunning views from the top. One can understand why the Romans had a fort up here.Clach Liath10/02/2019
Parked near farm equipment opposite side of the lane. nt595154. Follow atv tracks nice walk.G0HIO16/05/2018
From West Lees. Excellent forestry track and good waymarked path. Lovely hill, shame about the misty, windy weather. Good path plus no views = up and down in one hour dead.Owen B31/03/2018
As below from West Lees.Superb hill.ARM05/11/2017
Start of another holiday. From minor road near West Lees we followed forestry tracks / waymarked paths to summit trig. Rocky summit wild and windy today. Fine views of the Tweed Valley / Tweedsmuir, Lammenmuir and Cheviot hills. A hill we were able to easily identify from afar as we explored the area over the next week.briandavies21/10/2017
A superb hill in crystal clear weather following a morning of rain and mist. Followed the good track from West Lees to its end, and then a way-marked muddy footpath onto the hill. Astonishing views from the top. Followed a broad track down through the gorse, gate into a field parallel with the footpath and then another gate leads onto the easy track.Gill07/10/2017
From West Lees directly west to summit on good track. An hour return, solo, walk.bolton22/09/2017
Walked up from Ruberslaw campsite. Great views from the top.Gebirgsjaeger09/09/2017

From Hallrule like 'N.Morters'Moorponder08/07/2017
4/4 of the hills round Jedburgh. Parking at ample space at track start from SE near Hallrule. Wooden signposts point the way, but it's very obvious. The track leads up to the square plantation and then straight up buttercup fields to the ridge.N.Morters01/07/2017
Three abbey's path from Denholm (lane just beyond butchers). Followed the edge of the woods that pass lead to the summit slopes. Great views from the top.mindlessflogger29/05/2017
Parked on road to east of summit due west of Billerwell Farm (NT59556 15472). Follow farm track as far as it goes then followed wall to fort and on to summit.Descended by SE route.mntainman25/04/2017
