Parked at SH946273 and jumped up on to the ridge to nab the three Nuttalls on this side. Easy walking, even with it being wet under foot, distinct tracks all the way there and back.simocity29/12/2023

Updated Nuttall 7.5 from Bwlch yr Hwch: Foel Goch, Trum y Gwragedd (Trum y Gwrgedd), Foel y Geifr, Pen y Cerrig Duon, Pen y Boncyn Trefeilw, Stac Rhos, Cefn Gwyntog North Top, Cefn Gwyntog, Cefn Gwyntog Far North Top, Foel Cedig and Y Groes Fagl. Haxy, dull day, so there weren't even good views to distract from the relentless trudge through heather.Lazylizzie03/09/2022
Parked at the start of the Hirnant path, the path I took was basically across the road and headed for the edge of the forest, it was a tough 240m ascent to the top. Great views from the top.Buckleymon15/08/2022

From road/track junction at pass. West to Foel y Geifr then north over 612m top and on to Foel Goch and return to pass. Then east along good track to Pen y Boncyn Treifeilw use fence to locate) and on to Foel Cedig which took a little bit of searching to find the small cairn.dickscroop03/11/2021

Circular 13.7 mile route of serious heather bashing from Aber-Hirnant Picnic area. Foel Goch, Trum y Gwregedd, Foel y Geifr, Pen Cerrig Duon Pen y Boncyn Trefeilw, Stac Rhos, Foel Cedig, Bwlch y Groes-fagl and Foel-y-ddinas. The intial very steep ascent to Foel Goch from the road should not be underestimated!Gwastadros12/06/2021

Parked by road and straight lined to Foel y Geifr. Due north to Foel Goch, descent to road back to car. Up and along track to Pen y Boncyn and the Devil's Mountain 666 (Foel Cedig)andrew.morel11/08/2020
Foel y Geifr, Trum y Gwrgedd & Foel Goch from the summit of the Hirnant road with Rufus. Parking opposite track entrance, over gate and a rough/boggy atv track most of the way to the trig point of Foel y Geifr then track along ridge to other 2 summits, returned same way. Flies were awful, must be something to do with the location. Great view of Crib yr Aran.jacobrichmond11/08/2020

From Trum y Gwragedd. Easy ridge walking. Cloud clearing off hills to the west but still too gloomy for fine views. Not the most scenic area anyway but enjoyed the tranquillity. Returned same route. 1 hour.Wycombe Wanderer26/11/2018
From Hirnault Valley ascended the ridge to the west and summited Foel Goch, Trum y Gwrgedd and Foel y Geifr.knarf30/10/2018
With my dog. Parked by bridge at SH952 300. Climbed straight up to forest then up fence side to summit. Overcast with good views. Lots of flies. MY first Nutall (of the modern era). Onward!HH30/08/2018

Walked the route in section 7.5 of the Nuttalls book. Foel Goch, Trum y Gwragedd, Foel y Geifr , Pen y Boncyn Trefeilw, Stac Rhos, Cefn Gwyntog, Cyrniau Nod, Y Groes Fagl. People call these the boring Berwyns but I don't agree. How many of the hundreds of thousands who climb Snowdon and Cader Idris each year would persevere with this walk. It's a real challenge and there are some good views if the weather holds. A very steep descent to Foel Goch reminded me how unfit I've become. Great views at the top, could see Arenig Fawr, Aran Fawddy and Snowdon in the distance inbetween the snow showers. The summit of Trum y Gwragedd was tantalisingly 40 foot on the other side of a barb wire fence. I decided not to be a purist but as I walked on the guilt gnawed at me and, 200 metres later at a corner post, I decided to leave my backpack, cross over and go back to the summit. My gloves and trousers already had holes in them and I'm not sure I'd have risked it if I had been wearing new exptsharp21/03/2017

Solo walk during a weekend trip to Llangollen for a friend's Birthday. Aber Hirnant - Foel Cwm-Sian Llwyd - along ridge via all Nuttalls to Pen y Cerrig Duon - road - Foel y Geifr - north along ridge - steep descent by forest to road - road back to Aber Hirnant. A rather dull and heathery set of hills!AGWilliamson18/12/2016

14 mile hard circular walk from the cattle grid at the bottom of the pass, used ill-defined footpaths up onto Pen Y Boncyn Trefeilw, then along lane to Stac Rhos up the lane to Foel Cedig and Cyrniau Nod, back down taking the pretty much pathless ridge to Cefn Gwyntog, descended and forded the stream west above the waterfall, followed lane to road, then followed lane through forest up onto the moors, struggled through hideous pathless heather up onto Cefn Coch, then across more heather to Foel Y Geifr, then down little path onto Trum Y Gwrgedd and Foel Goch back down to car with half an hour of daylight left.DanTrig13/03/2016

My last three Berwyns: - a delightful evening walk along the ridge west of the Hirnant valley, having parked at the top of the Bwlch.ruthatlast18/07/2014
Followed the Nuttalls route apart from Stac Rhos, Cefn Gwyntog, Cyrniau Nod all done as out and back from the track. Each with a handy cairn to indicate where to leave the track. Latter part of the day it poured with rain and cloud came down.axe.stephen28/05/2014
When I looked down upon this hill from the slopes of Pen Y Cerrig Duon, I thought omg look how steep that is. This was one of my longest days hillwalking, starting at Llangynog having already climbed the very steep Moel Dimoel and then track and bog to Cyrniau Nod, Cefn Gwyntog, Stac Rhos, Pen Y Boncyn Trefeilw, I took the Fp heading north branching off at the 550m mark to drop down the steep sides to the minor road running through the Hirnant pass. I walked up to the cattle grid and then took a direct line up using Sheep paths and then slate. Every 30 metres i needed a short break to get my breath back. I would say this was more of a scramble than a walk, using heather and hauling myself up little by little, eventually gaining the top of the ridge! The relief at the top was palpable. Walked west along the ridge to the summit. This hill really tested my stamina!!Dazingdale06/05/2014
Followed Nuttalls Western Berwyns walk with a few additions.rhalstead16/03/2014
MAINLY FOLLOWED NUTTALLS WALK 7.5 FOR THE WESTERN BERWYNS. PARKED AT THE FOOT OF THE HIRNANT PASS AND WENT STRAIGHT UP VERY STEEP FOEL GOCH, THEN EASY WALK ALONG THE RIDGE TO TRUM Y GWRAGEDD AND FOEL Y GEIFR. STEEP HEATHER DOWN TO TOP OF PASS THEN ALONG THE TRACK, POPPING OFF IT TO DO PEN Y BONCYN TREFEILW AND STAC RHOS. RETURNED TO TRACK BETWEEN ALL TOPS AND FOUND FAINT PATH OUT TO CEFN GWYNTOG. FOLLOWED FENCE TO CIRNIAU NOD AND FINISHED WITH THE EASY GROES FAGL. BACK THROUGH FOREST TO CAR - ANOTHER WARM SUNNY DAY OUT FROM BALA.BURGESS08/08/2013
