Parked in the layby in Rylstone on B6265. Took the roundabout path past the church to avoid heavy traffic on the road (no footpath), and up on to the moor. Permissive muddy path then follows the wall all the way to the war memorial and hp. Visited the cross on the return. Deceptively long distance along the wall. Views of higher tops towards the NW hidden by cloud but good view of Sharp Haw. Solo.richard6915/12/2023

Back on Barden Moor again! This time with Steve, on a circular walk 18.7km long with 600m of ascent in 6 hour. Started at the car park at Embsay Reservoir and visited the cross and obelisk on Cracoe Fell, and also Crookrise Crag Top, Thorpe Fell Top and Brown Bank returning by Embsay Crag. Very clear air, with extensive views from Ingleborough to Drax Power Station; Wharfedale in front of a snowy Buckden Pike looking especially good.silveracorn_alan15/03/2021

Embsay Reservoir car park to the Crag Top trig, then continuing along a wall side path all the way up to the Cracoe Fell obelisk and war memorial. The crucifix en-route was an interesting diversion... love the Victorian graffiti. Then carried on to Thorpe Fell Top via path, moor and track, and Gill Beck Head, descending to the Upper Barden reservoir dam. Up to the scattered rocks of Brown Bank then across Wayshaw Bogs to Embsay Crag and back to the CP. Nice walk. 3.5 hrs.summitter26/09/2020
Parked at Embsay reservoir and headed north over Crookrise crag and the Rylstone cross to reach the memorial on the summit, a cracking walk of Seven and half mile in just over Four hours.WAYNE ROWLETT20/09/2020

Solo. Parked in a lay-by on the B6265 just north of Rylstone village (SD 96926 58738). Then a clockwise round. Chapel Lane to Cracoe village. Fell Lane to Cracoe fell and then Obelisk. I was unable to locate a track from the end of Fell Lane to the Obelisk, making this section extremely difficult to walk (but it was extremely easy to navigate)! Then followed the wall to Rylstone Cross. Finally down Sun Moor Hill back to car.ADT08/07/2020

Parked at the lay-by N of duckpond at Rylstone. Solo. Went up to the church and then roughly SE along the bridle way to Sun Moor Hill. I left the bridle way and headed north on a path, over two stiles to the prominent cross. This is made of millstone grit. I climbed over the stile and followed the footpath on the east side of a wall to the summit of Cracoe Fell. I got a foot on the rock at the NW corner of the obelisk which is at the summit. This NW corner is the highest natural point of the hill. Returned the same way. Very misty on the high parts of the hill and very wet and muddy underfoot. It was mostly dry with a little drizzle.pwbellarby25/01/2020

From Halton Height parking via estate tracks then footpath to High Bank. At this point the view opens up and the wind starts kicking off! Some stunning wind and rain carved stones along this stretch. The obelisk for a time doesnt seem to get any closer. A fine monument though with a superb view. Crikey it was breezy though. Reached ob in under an hour and three quarters and later on was feeling the pace a bit but next off to find the trig pillar next. My 500th!stig_nest06/09/2017

From Embsay, via Sharp Haw over Rough Haw (yes, it is) to Rylstone and up the bridleway to Cracoe Fell on a blisteringly hot day. Mercifully short bog trotting from the track NE of Threapland Gill to the trig, then down NE to the shooting hut. Torrential rain at Upper Barden Reservoir provided a refreshing soaking. Parked on B6265 just south of Rylstone and just north of where the track leaves the road. Climbed Cracoe Fell and then went across to Thorpe Fell Top - the last part was across the pathless moor which, as far as pathless moors go, was not too bad. Need a compass and GPS though.clivevilla18/12/2015

Cracoe bus stop - Cracoe Fell - Sun Moor - Sandy Beck - Rough Haw - Sharp Haw - Skipton. There is a path from the top of Fell Lane to Cracoe Fell - it bends round to the E. As for the descent, there is an unmarked path (with footpath signs) from SD978572 to SD975562 - good for the link up with Sharp Haw.Mark Jackson03/09/2014
Walked to the top after climbing on Crookrise crags. It's a shame the high wall next to the path in on the wrong side for the views. I forgot to pack any food so I was not in Mrs Mindlessfloggers good books when we go back to the car at 8pm.mindlessflogger17/05/2014

Via the moors from Embsay Crag, which I wouldn't recommend as, like an idiot, I lost the path and fell in the bogs. Made a beeline for the Obelisk from the cabins on the south side, but the heather makes for hard yomping.DanHolme05/10/2013
