Up Lord's Rake and a gully for Symonds Knott, so decided I should pay a second visit to Scafell on my way back to the car at Wasdale. | NormanW | 14/07/2024 |
From Eskdale YH via Foxes Rake and back. In a cloud after waterfalls and leaving Esk valley, but absolutely no wind. Esk valley is beautiful but very wet. The trail on the (true) right bank of Esk is much better than on the left one, what I knew on the way back. | LandE | 14/07/2024 |

Scafell and Slight Side from Wha House Farm. Again misty, but a brief glimpse of a view from Scafell's summit. The rocks are very slippery after the many months of rain - care required. 14km with 1050m ascent, taking me 6 hours, there and back. | silverwolf_alan | 19/02/2024 |

Damp and claggy solo day doing Lingmell, Scafell Pike, Sca Fell and Slight Side. Scafell Pike summit was empty (apart from me!) | Winter Round | 01/12/2022 |
Stayed at Eskdale YH the night before, the staff allowed me to keep my car there on 26th, while I did the hike.
Walked along the road to Wha House and followed the well defined path between the Crags and up to Slight Side, then onto Sca Fell. Great views in all directions, sunny until half way down when I brief shower caught me.
Returned via the same route, as on the ascent I visited the wrong (lower) north summit, so on the descent I visited the southern summit, which now looks lower....06:20hrs all in. | chillyman8 | 26/09/2022 |

The ascent of Scafell from Wha House, via Slight Side, Symonds Knott, returning via Slight Side, Great How and Boat How to Boot. A wonderful November day in the Lakes, with a mixture of vivid blue sky and mist drifting around the hills. Even a sighting a splendid Brocken Spectre from Symonds Knott. 21km with 1200m ascent in 7h30m. (S) | silveracorn_alan | 13/11/2021 |
Raining all night and due to continue all day, my companion planned to enjoy a day in the pub but dropped me at the top end of Wast Water and left me to it. Main route up Scafell Pike impassable due to river crossing in torrent, so plodded up to saddle between Scafell and Illgill then turned NE and climbed up streaming slopes towards Scafell and summit. Managed to descent to Foxes tarn but thought better of it with everything in torrent and returned the way i had come , descending to Burnmoor tarn with the whole bowl awash. Descending to E of tarn looked a safer bet and followed track to Boot then glad to be on tarmac, road to pub in Santon | richardrosser | 27/10/2021 |
