Day 32/40 of my Wainwright Challenge linking all 214 Wainwrights in one walk taking 40 days to mark my 70th Birthday. Today, solo taking a tour of Helvellyn and some of its many satellites, visiting Birkhouse Moor, Catstye Cam, Helvellyn, Nethermost Pike, High Crag, Dollywaggon Pike, Helvellyn Lower Man, White Side, and Raise. A glorious day on the Helvellyn Range, with plenty of long distance views of everywhere except Scafell and Gable which stubbornly hid in the cloud! 22km with 1330m ascent, taking 8h 30m.Alan_70+19/06/2024

Stayed in Toddhills Travelodge, Saturday night, met Alex McBride in Glenridding on Sunday 26th. We headed up to Birkhouse Moor first, past Red Tarn and on to Catstye Cam. They up via Swirral Edge to Helvellyn, had lunch in the X wind shelter, then over Lower Man, Whiteside Bank and up onto Raise. From Raise we descend NW, checking out the ski tow then rejoining the path at the old mine workings. Alex continue on for Sheffield Pike, while I dropped down to the hostel and back to Glenridding. 06:35hrs all in, Helvellyn had intermittent clouds, but good views in between the clouds and on the other smaller hills.
