Parked in layby west of Gawthwaite and climbed Burney, Blaiwith Knott, Yew Bank, Fisher High, Beacon Fell, Wool Knott, Tottlebabk Height and Combs.oldbagger2709/05/2024
Thick low cloud shrouding the hill and moorland whilst I spent 5 hours trying to precisely place 29 orienteering controls for this evenings event here. Used the trig pillar to micro navigate down to a control site NW to S of a small knoll below a small scree slope. Not easy in the dense gloom -which then lifted once the competitors arrived!Chris Pearson08/05/2024
4 hrs picking my way all over the hill and moorland selecting 39 orienteering control sites for an evening event I'm planning for next month. Neatly it has also been 39 years since I last climbed this hill. The views on the Coniston Fells are still just as good.Chris Pearson16/04/2024

Parked in an old quarry S of the hill and followed path to trig pillar. Headed off E to bag Combs then SW to wall which was followed to a track and road back to the carWayne Mac04/04/2024
I parked in a lay-by just up the hill from Gawthorpe village, walked along the main road then the minor road to the foot of the S ridge. A nice walk up, being dry for a change, but only as far as the summit. En route to Combs, it started agin and got heavy. The path back to Gawthorpe got lost in the marsh. Good hills but grotty weather and conditions.IanHHill14/03/2024

Park at foot of Burney (Carol stayed with car). WOF #25. Follow Wainwright route anticlockwise to cairns. Head up east side of fell. Follow the motorcycle tracks west (this route could be wet, I suspect). Steep, so swing north to ease the gradient and loop round to the north. Approach the summit from the north (979’). Latter part of decent south is steep and a good test for old knees! 1 OF. 1.5 miles. 55 mins.DABT19/09/2020

We parked at the no parking layby at the foot of the hill and followed the crest up over 3 separate lumps. From the road this looks an easy walk but was much much steeper than I thought. Soon though we were at the top and greeted to a fabulous trig column and amazing views like from Blawith but with the added extra bonus of being able to see the full walk we had just done an hour before. We followed the same path down and feeling satisfied drove home. The bug was well and truly back!!!Scotty 2 Hotty07/06/2020
