With Rufus. Foel Cynfal and Graig Wen from lay-by and track on B4391 at SH 76738 40136. Along track then fence to Llyn Cors-y-barcud and over small crossing over outflow. Over the 2 summits and descended N to forest, good track along forest edge towards pylons, tool high ground S of pylons to avoid bog and another good track from sheepfold at SH 75919 39854 back to starting track. Would be a very strenuous day to do all of the tops in this area. | jacobrichmond | 31/03/2020 |
From Foel Fawr, took faint grass paths that wind over the high spots between the two hills, with multiple small lakes passed. Just past Llyn y Graig Wen, took a grass ramp right and worked over to the summit cairn. | Amplifier | 06/09/2019 |

Parked at the car park and walked up road past mast to follow track up through forest. Lot of cutting going on at the start of the forest. Followed the ride to SH 73431 39966 and then to top of Graig Wen. Crossed moor to Foel Fawr. Bit wet and boggy in places. Then down hill following sheep trods and vague quad bike tracks back to mast and car park. | MikeM | 05/10/2016 |
Via Llyn Craig y tan. Thick mist made navigating quite challenging. Glad of GPS. Plenty of little llyns and bog. Descended using excellent path down firebreak and back to footpath sign. | Campbell Singer | 20/07/2016 |

By the old track along the firebreak - muddy but enjoyable. This track takes you out of the trees and below the summit to the north | Colin Crawford | 12/03/2015 |
Parked as Des near footpath sign but used the track along the firebreak. Didn't have time for Foel Fawr, in fading light, so reversed the outward route. | Chris Peart | 31/12/2014 |
From Roman Amphitheatre via the disused quarries on a decent path up to Craig Wen, then over some wet ground to Foel Fawr and back by another decent path. Rather large breach in the old dam between them. | SS | 29/11/2014 |

Park at Nat Park car park at 710388, along road to foot path signs and across tussock to a lovely forest ride. Walk on a dry path between forests from 719399 for about a mile, rising gently all the way. Onto the open moor and the top (don't forget the OS bolt about 2 metres before the cairn). | arranc | 08/04/2014 |
Easy parking before footpath sign few hundred metres N of cattle grid. Went direct - mistake - heather bog and ascent descent. Advise using the forest track which is very good!! | destaylor | 04/11/2011 |
Easy round in evening sunshine with Foel Fras thrown in. hardest bit was the 9' height restriction on the road in - thought I might have to reduce tyre pressures on mobile home! | Martin R | 01/09/2011 |
Parked by cattle grid at GR 710398 and walked E to forest. Continued on good track through forest eventually emerging onto open hillside then SE to summit. Returned to forest for protection from wind and rain. With SH. | wombourne | 09/08/2010 |
Start~ 710398 grid. Followed an old track east through a ride in the trees before turning south to the summit. Good walking terrain, lousy weather. | steve hudson | 09/08/2010 |
Nice little scramble onto the top from Foel Fras if you pick your route. Three broken dams in the area which was really odd. Slogged back to Gellilydan with Josh and Cabe. Cabe's first big day out - he did really well. | simon and co | 10/04/2010 |
