Mossy grass hummock on top. Gorgeous clear sunny winter's day. Descended NE ridge keeping to wall line- no path, slow, boggy in places. Ascended SW ridge using well defined FP from Pont Cedris and then farm track which gets you to c 350m- Thereafter, rough pathless terrain up ridge. Better, unless you want to do a traverse.Denise 14/01/2022
SW shoulder, grassy farm track then vague path through heather and deep grass. Summit has 2small peaks, the NE'ly the higher. Good views.RichardM14/01/2022
Parking area by Pont Cedris at SH 6925 0815 - RoW up to col & then across sheep pasture to start of zigzag track - Up track & path to gateway at 6936 0907 & then beared left into an obvious valley - Up valley over mainly dead grass to meet fence line 30m S. of top; a bit rough at first, but soon picked up trods & bits of old ATV track; no hearther! - Easily over wire fence a short climb to unmarked summit. Parked to S in small pull-in very close to start of ROW. Clockwise circuit, starting and ending on ROWs. Rough vegetation over the top.PGCE14/08/2021
From pt.169 after a walk from Abergyolwyn over Gamallt and Foel Cae'rberllan (qqv). The hill track gave good going, then ATV track to fence just E of HP. Anywhere else the going was appalling. Neat summit ridge, very fine views and Dk Green Fritillary butterflies on the way down the track. I shook off Topographer57 who had been on the 2 Ma today (but we didn't meet).pwheeler14/07/2021
From pub parking at SW end of Tal-y-Llyn. Path up though woods does not exist but we found a way. Past farm and onto Craig Ddu. From there a super ridge up to Mynydd Pencoed then across to main Cadair ridge. Picked up Foel Ddu on way back which is nice top, but ground made rough by cattle on first half of climb up. With B and R.jenx27/05/2021
ascent from Abergynolwyn followed southern side ridge wall to just below summit then sharp ascent to summit area of high points one looking higher than the other when stood on it wet and raining full waterproofs onjohnowen22/07/2020
Parked at 69846 08695, up the track which eventually turns right. I went across the pasture and straight for the summit. Much of this route is pathless. I came down on to the winding path but this was much easier at the end of a hard day. A herd of frisky black cattle added to the experience by running towards me but ran away when I stopped and shouted at them.clivevilla29/08/2019
Parked opposite chapel at Llanfihangel-y-pennant. Up the lane north before branching right onto a path through the bracken that gently climbs up to the bwlch below Craig Ysgiog. Diverted left to visit the summit cairn, then returned and climbed on pathless grass up to the top of Mynydd Tyn-y-fach. From here it becomes tussocky grass and rank heather as I dropped to the bwlch and then climbed by a fence and old wall. Eventually the grassy summit knoll was reached. The descent by the south-west ridge was much easier!Amplifier03/07/2019
Parking at Castell y Bere car park, Foel Cae'rberllan first then here on near enough direct route. Spotted the obvious track when coming down from Foel Cae - NW side of the gulley Nant-yr-Eira.jonglew05/10/2018
From LyP chapel via Nant y Eira ruin. Picked up the zigzag track which made life easy. Beyond the marked end there is quadbike tracks to the marked wall.. from there onwards it gets bloody miserable. Rough long grass, holes etc. Its a swine. I'd also strongly suggest not continuing to C.I. from here either. The other side of the hill is even worse. Very decent view given C.I. was in cloudstig_nest26/09/2018
From accommodation at Maes-y-pandy Farm. Solo. Used track, which is a public right of way, from SH698086 to ascend gradually through forest. Then on grassy track for part of the way to the summit of Foel Ddu. Sole of one walking shoe broke away completely from the rest of the shoe at one point on ascent. Tied the two parts together with the shoe lace for the rest of the ascent. Returned same way and abandoned attempt on other summits.pwbellarby05/04/2018

From Mary Jones Chapel some tracks then cross country up to Craig Y Llyn, path to Tyrrau Mawr, then cross country and use track SW to Mynydd Pencoed acroos river to Mynydd Tyn Y Fach and Foel Ddu no paths hard going now down to Nant Eira and back to the Chapel visit Chapel is worthwhileunderhill29/01/2017
With Mark, from Mari Jones church car park. En route to Cader. Pretty rough long grass and when, with a few fence crossings. My very first Welsh hill.niallp25/09/2016
Parked (free) by the church in Llanfihangel y pennant at SH 67198 08874. Took RoW up the valley of Nant yr Eira, then NNE by and over a tricky fence and wall, then over rough ground to the summit. Walk continued to Mynydd Pencoed. With NP.Man of Kernow125/09/2016
Linear walk from Abergynolwyn to Minfordd taking in Gamallt as well. 400th HuMP total reached on a 400m hill, nice.Alex C25/08/2015
From Pont Cedris (good parking for 4 cars) up footpath through field and woods onto track to its highest point and then straight up ridge. Used part of zig zag path on way down.Campbell Singer06/07/2015

Delightful walk up from Pont Cedris on superb green sheep zig zags and a final 3/4 mile on tussock to the surprising rocky tops.arranc09/04/2014
From Car Park opposite Mary Jones' Chapel, direct ascent of Foel Cae'rberllan, then dencended to track at col and followed landrover track onto Foel Ddu.rhalstead20/03/2014
Easy parking at bridge near Cedris Farm. Excellent path then track to just over 1km from top. Then make a beeline - no paths apart from sheep paths. Grass mainly some long but no heather. If lose track 68802 08566 could be helpful.destaylor06/09/2012

Started from rhywogof farm and followed the ridge to the summit.Awful tussocky thick ankle breaking ground all the way.Not at all enjoyable to climb but tremendous views at the top.DARRENG23/08/2011
Started from SH698086 - GPS said 860 metres to summit - a quick grab then! Not quite - tried beeline back though in hot sun - brutal and 'interesting'Martin R27/06/2011
