From the car park at north end of Loch Awe. Managed to slip on wet rock near the summit. Fell heavily on my rib cage (Broken, cracked, bruised rib - who knows, but it hurt!)Geoff Briggs15/08/2024
Morning bus from Lochinver to the Bone Caves car park, then walked over Canisp and back to Lochinver.Pete R31/05/2024
Only hill on wet weekend in Ullapool. Steady pull from road to the top. Moderate views with Suliven appearing and disappearing as cloud rolled in from the sealangskill27/08/2023
Solo. The suggested Walk Highland route from the west. Unfortunately cloud cover at the top, which was intermittent. Ascent/descent very stony.DampandDusty30/07/2023
From the lay-by on the A837 at the N end of Loch Awe. Straight up and back sticking to the SW side of the hill on vague paths through the rocks and boulders (not the WH route). Rather uninspiring plod up a dip-slope sadly unenlivened by any views. Excellent summit wind shelter. 12.8km, 3h 50 with a dodgy legRockdoctor26/05/2023
With: hb; From A837 at N end of Loch Awe, followed the excellent path up SW slopes to summit. Returned via a more northerly route to rejoin outward path lower down. Stunning views.Ian Baines21/05/2023
Weather fair.MountainMac19/04/2023
With John from A837 car park/lay-by. Over the footbridge at the head of the loch then we kind of ignore the paths and gpx routes and just made our own route up and down. Very wet down low, and crusty snow above 600m, but fairly easy going. Summit was in clag with a biting cold wind, so didn't stay at the shelter cairn for long. Total time: 4h 13min.mproudfoot07/01/2023
From good roadside pull-in at NC 2502 1613. Sort of track most of the way up. Trig surface block in the larger of the summit cairns. Meallan Liath Mor on the return.jonglew29/11/2022

Will not be remembered as a favourite Corbett - endless stones and boulders. Not steep and good views from the top were redeeming factorscarole engel04/09/2021
Last done in snow on 27/12/21 so a bit different this time in beautiful sunshine. FRom A837 car park at the end of Loch Awe, up on the path over the boggy bit then up the left ridge for good views and down the centre picking the various paths up on the way down 7.8 miles just under 4hrs moving time.JulieB27/08/2021

From A837 at N end of Loch Awe, surprisingly good track (while dry) W past lochs and continuing up the hill, including a fine section up gently sloping quarztite slabs, then more or less straight up using less stony areas and intermittent tracks as possible to summit, return same waykdbennett19/08/2020
Straight up and down from A837. Solo.Dangerous Dave26/09/2019
From Glencanisp Lodge CP, reached Suileag at just over an hour? Continued, pitched tent by Loch na Gainimh. Clear dry conditions, good views from summit. Midges in evening by Loch.Morning24/08/2019
Climbed with Richard, started off fairly sunny but deteriorated with rain and fog on the summit.amcculloch17/06/2019
Up and back from A835 KeithByTheC16/04/2019
From Suilbeag bothy, an earlyish start to beat the forecast rain which I just did. Along track, left fork(a track rather than a path and straight from end of track to summit. No problems except for 50 mph wind from near the top which made an otherwisde straightforward boulder slope a bit tricky.dickscroop01/04/2019
Glasgow/Lancaster and MMC Ullapool outing. Day 4. Alex, Nick and Rob. Original intention was Quinaig but low cloud covered the three tops, so settled on Canisp as an easier walk. Cold and windy low cloud on top. 4 hoursalexmaclennan25/03/2019
We parked on road and went up the east flank. The path is obvious until you get the boulders and you pick your way up. If you stay left the path reappears and views of Suilven are beautiful. Return the same wayAristotle Chip20/02/2019
Straightforward ascent from E. Superb views of Suilven.dal03/09/2018
From Glencanisp Lodge, stayed in Suileag bothy. Branched left on the path at NC173192, followed this until it petered out, just before the last pull up Canisp's west ridge.Robinho0826/05/2018
Rather indifferent day with E wind bringing low cloud. Canisp is in the lee of big mountains and it proved a good choice, with cloud just blowing over the summit while Cul Mor and Quinag were persistently cloud covered. Impressive views of Suilven. Path, with useful bridge, from parking spaces N of Loch Awe: easy to loose where deer tracks are more distinct. I varied the return by following the route in SMC's Corbett guide more closely and returned to the path- which is further S- before the pathless terrain became too thickly vegetated.pwheeler22/05/2018
With J during a week in Sutherland. After the previous day which was the only wet & cold blemish on a perfect weather week, we reached the summit just as the mist covered the last few feet. However, did get a view from the small promontory to the NW of the top. Started on the A835 from the northerly of the two lay-bys at the N end of Loch Awe, dropped to the bridge & then followed the rough & boggy track up to point 307m & then up some slabs before trending to the L to pick up traces of very stony path leading eventually to the summit. Returned further E towards Meall Diamhain using grassy rakes to avoid the knee-jarring stuff.NotReallyABagger22/05/2018
Out & back from the A837 to the East. With Nathan.MorecambeMonkey08/05/2018
Straight up and down from the A837 to the south east. Lovely view of Suilven on the way up but unfortunately the Canisp summit was cloud topped. Was tempted to go on to the nearby Marilyn to the north, but gale force winds, rough terrain and tiredness (fourth day of hill walking in a row) made it an easy decision not to.Owen B27/09/2017

Clear day. Easy ascent from road. In comparison to the crowded Cul Mor two days previously we only met one party of 4 the whole day. Fantastic views from summit shelter. And I have to add it was the best summit shelter I've seen in years.KevPalmer21/07/2016

Parked S of Inchnadamph at 248200, crossed river and headed up Allt an Beithe to Meallan Liath Mor, then up Canisp. Descended NW ridge to lochan at 193196, (lovely views across to Suilven), then crossed narrow strip of land inbetween two lochans at 197199. Crossed at Feidh an Leothaid at 211200 then climbed to SE ridge of Beinn Reidh. Around N tip of Loch na Beinne Reidhe to Beinn Gharbh, then a detour to the north top at 216227 for a lovely view to Quinag across Loch Arkaig. Followed the string of lochans to SE of Beinn Gharbh and then the Easan Dubh down the hillside. Picked up landrover track (not on OS 25000 map, but shown on Harvey's map, though it goes much further up the hiil side) back to the car.Clive G14/05/2015

From A837 at N end of Loch Awe, with JK, KM and NP. Weather not pleasant until lower part of descent, when it improved somewhat from earlier showers, strong winds and hill-fog.Man of Kernow129/09/2012
With family from east. Weather good on summit, but we had some rain to both start and finish. Fantastic views of surrounding mountains.AGWilliamson16/09/2012
Layby on A837 4km N. of Ledmore – Across FB over R. Loanan close to Loch Awe – Up ESE ridge – Summit of Canisp – Down NW ridge – Picked up Stalker’s Path down to Loch na Gainimh – Path/Track past Suileag & Glencanisp Lodge to Lochinver. (PM)gerrybowes12/09/2012

Solo from East, hot dry clear sunny day, superb views of Suilven (digital photos checked 21h27). Ran about 2M then too rough and had to hike. Had stayed at Garve Hotel and done a little run along track near there in the morning. Listened to e01 of BF75 Scaredy-Cat then 1st quarter of Cyberman 1.2 Fear.NorfolkPT2126/07/2011
