Logged Descriptions  (logged by 27 users)ByDate of Ascent
Parked at road junction where there is space for 2 carefully parked cars 193280. 100m E on road and good track heads off N. After 500m turn L onto grass track at edge of woodland. Follow fence up and short section of grass to high point of Montague Hill. Backtrack to main track and cross. Follow track to lochan. At S end there are 2 stiles over fences leading on to rougher grass. Animal tracks head E and go uphill and gate and easy climb to summit of Swirlhead Hill. Gate to SW on fence allows access to highest point. Back through gate for easier walking and down to road with fence climb to new track to 205277. Track opposite heading S up towards Beal Hill. Soon turns into path and then animal track to summit. W across field to mast and track back to road to W. Short section of quiet road to car. 6km, 200m climb. Probably nice views but misty today.Lynnebe04/05/2024

8th and final hill of a walk starting from Flawcraig. Ascended past some placid-looking cattle just below the summit. For the descent, angled down through grassy fields to reach the road just before Rait. Nice tracks from there back to Flawcraig.Rod M21/11/2017
A steepish start to my 10 Tump day, directly up from the North as others.NormanW25/08/2017
Good parking at top of pass, as for Swirlhead Hill. Start of track quite overgrown for 20m. Some steep slopes and very rough underfoot - pasture churned up by cattle, but hidden in long grass.Minto12/08/2017
Parked at bend in road to north. Followed track then ascent up very uneven hillside. Bumps and lumps and holes hidden under very long grass!WOORSIE20/06/2017
Track through a gate at Ladywell, passing an old horse box to a steep tree-dotted slope onto what feels like a former ploughed field. Top is somewhere in the woodland curving over the summit plateau.summitter28/05/2017
