| Wall to wall blue sky. Cycle in from Linn of Dee to Derry Lodge. Good path to Derry Cairngorm with small detours to Carn Crom and Little Cairngorm. Curved E to Sgurr an Lochan Uaine over rocky ground but above bog stream catchment. WNW picking easiest ground to Creagan a Choire Etchachan. WSW to pick up Munro path before leaving it about 1150m to head NE, N and NE to Carn Etchanan. Reasonable ground. Sw then WSW to drop to Garbh Uisge Mor then up to ridge over Ben Macdui N Top to Ben Macdui. Path then boulders to Stob Coire Sputan Dearg and rough path and boulders down to Sron Riach. Should have followed path to ridge to W but cut down early over easy grass, then awful boulders to col. Up lovely ridge to Carn a Mhaim. Well built path back to Derry lodge for cycle out. 29km walk 1650m climb 8:30 moving, 9:50 total. 2 x 25min cycle. Fabulous. | Lynnebe | 19/09/2024 |
