Followed the classic corbett route. Up the good stalkers track. Roughish ground down to other track then good walking to summit. Excellent day. Wisited two hills on way back to car.cjo25/05/2024
1 hr fr Meallan a' Chuaill, then 2 hrs fr here back to car, down ridge E then down old stalkers' path to past loch, contoured over rough ground to good stalkers' path then down to road. Superb views fr here, esp sea-fret to W and Ben More Assynt.NorfolkPT2117/05/2024
Solo. Route for Meallan a Chuail and Beinn Leoid as per Walk Highland. A hot and windy day.DampandDusty08/07/2023
From small parking area on A838, followed SMC/Walkhighlands route. Think I tore a calf muscle on Meallan a Chuaill, which made the rest of the walk to Beinn Leoid and back a bit of a hobble. Lovely views though. 16.4km, 5hRockdoctor25/05/2023
Room for 2/3 cars at 357333 just beyond the access footpath. A steep but steady and easy climb on the stalkers path to 348317 then traversed above the 450 m contour to the col and then easily to the summit. With CM and D.Dave. Headed to the 2 Grahams.bolton30/03/2023
Parking for 2 or 3 cars just east of the footbridge over the Alltanan an Doire Dhuibh on the A838. Excellent stalkers path zigzags uphill. Once path ends walked on 450m contour to join another stalkers path just before Loch Dubh. Excellent track up to the col then easy angled walk to the summit. With Chris & Phil. Visited Meallan a Chuail & Meall an Fheur Loch afterwards.Dangerous Dave30/03/2023
Beinn Leonid and Meallan a' Chuail with John from the A838. Parked in a small area behind a passing place, and ascended the stalkers path up to Lochan a' Chuail. Cross the boggy terrain to ascend Meallan a' Chuail first, then down to the bealach and up to the corbett summit. Returned down to the bealach, then descended a path down to Loch Dubh and then left the path up to 500m to retraces our route in. Conditions were wet after a recent thaw, with freezing wind on the tops. Total time 5h 12min.mproudfoot05/02/2023

As everyone, via stalkers path, odd slightly descending traverse to other stalkers path, up to bealach and onto hilliangalbraith23/05/2021
A day of cloud and drizzle. A good stalkers path to start then rough cross country most of way col the straightforward to Beinn Leoid and on to Meall an Chuill, took a poor line from there but ascent of Meall an Fheur Loch straightforward back to stalkers path and start.dickscroop22/08/2020
With Sue from small car park on A383 near Kinloch up nice stalkers path then contour to good stalkers path meet Loch Dubh and East should to summit. We were joined by another walker as the weather turned wet and clouded in and visibility ceased. Returned same way.Frank06/06/2019

From Meallan a Chuail. Strong easterly made the last 100 metres to the trig or so a battle. Standard route back to the A838. Stalkers path past Loch Dubh. Possibly left the path a bit too early to get back to the other path down to the road, so ended up contouring around some slightly awkward ground.Owen B24/04/2019

With J during a glorious weather week in Sutherland. Parked just S of bridge & start of stalkers path on A838 about 3kms W of West Merkland. Ascended this to the cairn at the bealach where the original plan of descending to the other stalkers path beside the Allt Strath nan Aisinnin was abandoned in favour of a repeat visit to Meallan a'Chuail which I hadn't had a view from 6 years earlier. From here, descended SW first to avoid the rockier ground then NW to the col & then up to the grand view from the summit of Beinn Leoid. Returned to the col & took the lower stalkers path to a point about 0.75km N of Loch Dubh. Took a high traverse to the R of a prominent heathery mound back to the original col & as the peat hags were dry on this occasion, this worked out well.NotReallyABagger24/05/2018
Kinloch Brae- Beinn Leoid- Meallan a' Chuil- Kinloch Brae walk, using the excellent stalkers by Alltnan Doire Dhubh. The traverse to the stalkers path up to Drochaid Beinn Leoid took a long time, with reading the terrain. I checked and the return over Meallan a' Chuil(qv) only took 20 mins longer. I thought this was a fine walk to a very fine mountain, great views down its craggy N face and over to Assynt with some very wild intervening country. Another day with sunshine and long views, including An Teallach.pwheeler23/05/2018
After Meall an Fheur Loch & Meallan a' Chuail. On return from Beinn Leoid, I left the path at 34111/30482 to head across towards Lochan a' Chuail.duchally19/05/2018

With Ben Hee. Top at 3. Just a bit in dark on way back...davechaffey14/11/2017
Rd of MFL, Chuail and Leoid from A838. Up and down the gentle west ridge. Superb view of racehorse hills, and views from North Rona and Orkney to Banff. Descended path to loch, then got bogged down in peat hags along 450m contour. A higher route out would have been better.Topographer5728/09/2017
