With Heather. | garbo1103 | 16/09/2024 |
Parking besides the wooden bridge NNE of Oileasail. Up to its summit then on to Direadh Beinn and Oirchleit. Next went down the west side of Loch Gruineabhat to the outlier of Cleite nan Caorach before returning north up the broad ridge to Sron ri Gaoith. Continued north over Suaineabhal before returning to the van via Aineabhal. 6.5 hours. | summitter | 17/08/2024 |
with Diane. from road east, along posted path to start of steep ascent. Nice route. | jef | 04/06/2024 |
Camped by weir for early morning ascent. | lordtonult | 07/09/2023 |
Good value for a mere 428m. From weir I went across and up to traverse left on a path just under the screes. This leads to steep open hillside and I cut up this to the summit. | Chris Peart | 02/06/2023 |
Parked in a small gravel area off of the B8011 just a few metres south of the bridge going over the Abhainn Mhor a Ghlinne Ruaidh at approx 108 312. Headed SW up to the col between Aineabhal and Oileasail with the fence on my left side. From the col, descended to the north end of Loch a Phealair Mor then took an ascending line to the west to reach the summit. Had nice views most of the way up but final 100m or so of height gain was in the cloud. | assynt_bob | 12/05/2023 |
Parked in layby opposite houses at Loch Croistean (NB 1121 3043). On a round of 6 hills, Oileasail, Direadh Beinn, Oirchleit and Sron ri Gaoith first then up to here. On to Aineabhal and return for a 9.25 mile round. | jonglew | 14/03/2023 |
Parked by weir at N end of Loch Suaineabhal. Across bridge and followed path with white posts to foot of hill. Traversed east over difficult ground to get out of the very strong wind and up to good summit with large cairn. Back down carefully. 2 hours | Coinneach | 11/09/2022 |
After Oileasail parking near hall. Up the fragmented/rutted east side. Nice shabby rocks to finish. Sunny, stunning views to Harris and Uig Sands. | N.Morters | 09/09/2022 |
Track across bog from Cairisiadar. Followed white-painted posts to base of hill then grassy gully to summit. Low cloud. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 11/09/2021 |
No need to wade the weir anymore - there is a new footbridge over it | iainwalton | 15/08/2020 |
From Carishader. Summit cairn impressive with marvellous views. And stood on the high point. | NormanW | 14/05/2019 |
Across weir 063310, easy parking. Round the hill to the left, stay in valley until the first ascending burn of note, 078318. Up from there. Mostly sunny but cold, brief snow shower on top with our lunch. Breathtaking vuews again. | iangalbraith | 11/05/2019 |
Good parking at bridge 103 320. Over Aineabhal to Suaineabhal. Rough all the way. | PeteN | 30/12/2018 |
Crossed the weir easily at the road end 063310. A decent path runs easily to the north side before heading south to the summit. 2 hour return with CM. A great day in good conditions. | bolton | 18/07/2018 |
From weir across to highest point on lower slopes. Then N up to summit. Good going. With PM. | CJM | 18/07/2018 |
Paddled across river by weir then found a good path up the lower slopes before turning south to the summit. | AndrewFinnimore | 03/05/2017 |
From NB063310 near water treatment works. Waded across weir and then direct approach up steep broken cliffs. Excellent views of the whole of Lewis from the top. Returned slightly further to the North to avoid steepest ground. | raffemeister | 16/04/2017 |
From track to NE near Otter bunkhouse then followed river to avoid some of the rocky undulations. Another excellent hill | Thearlaichdubh | 16/06/2016 |
From near the otter bunkhouse, Miavaig. Track then straight up the drainage line. Great viewpoint on first really clear day out here. | nordicstar | 08/05/2016 |
Looked at weir crossing but too much water that way. A good route from the bridge though. Cuckoo kept us company. | jenx | 08/05/2016 |
From Cairisiadar, up the track, across the moor and then the Allt na Gile Fraoch. There's a grassy gully above that, and then onto the summit plateau. The views are gob-smacking. | Gill | 24/12/2015 |
Solo. Climbed from west. Crossed river say 200m north of weir where river is widest. Used wellies to cross river, and left them on east bank for my return. Lovely hill. | Bobf | 19/05/2015 |
Otis, Dagnis and Dagmara | Glenford | 20/09/2014 |
Climbed with Dagnis Dancitis, Glen and Otis Laws on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Walked over the rocks by the weir then followed a bit of a path towards the summit passing Anne, Eric, Campbell and Mat on their way back down. | Dugswell2 | 20/09/2014 |
Up down up down up. | dandaran | 10/11/2013 |
Started from Coirisiader - parked near the Ceilidh band (that will make sense when you get there). Followed track west and took less obvious left branch. When it peters out it is case of PYO route through boggy ground. Gets better the higher you go. Hardier souls (without a back injury) than me will add on the two Humps. | Martin R | 03/10/2013 |
With Mora, from Cairisiader,followed track from nb094333 | BLACKHILL | 01/06/2012 |
From NB 062 311 | summitsup | 12/06/2011 |
There was a 3' gap in the weir at the end of the road south. Trek across uneven moor with a lot of downs as well as ups, including a final trough at the foot of the slopes. Sharp rise up ridged grass steps to the first of some rocky slabs. Scramble up rocky falls onto a large rock covered area sloping up to top at 12.40. Large neatly built cairn on a huge overhanging slab. Met a young couple with child coming up - first people I.ve met on a Marilyn for ages. | arranc | 25/06/2010 |
Solo | HFB | 09/08/2009 |
From N side of road bridge. A bit of a ringer for Dumgoyne - straight up. | Eddie | 19/07/2008 |
