Day 27/40 of my Wainwright Challenge linking all 214 Wainwrights in one walk taking 40 days to mark my 70th Birthday. Today, with Catherine tackling the northern horseshoe up Fairfield around Deepdale from Patterdale, visiting Arnison Crag, Birks, Gavel Pike, St Sunday Crag, Cofa Pike, Fairfield, Hart Crag, Hartsop above How, and Gale Crag. Lowish cloud covering the high tops, also breezy and drizzle at times. But some sunbeams coming through. 19km with 1160m ascent taking 7h 50m.Alan_70+03/06/2024
Perfect day on the hills, starting Glenridding. Helvellyn via Striding Edge, dropped down to Grisedale Tarn via Dollywaggon, tough pull up to St Sunday Crag. Birks last hill on this horseshoe, drop down to Patterdale and a walk to the pub. 13mls, 4675ft elev gain, 7 hoursAlfa1M31/05/2024
From the CP at Grisedale Bridge, 3902-1608. Took the road then the path to Elmhow and picked up the path up behind the wood and followed the zig zags up Blind Cove, intended to do Pinnacle Ridge rock to wet so back to the path and continued up to St Sunday Crag. From there descend to Gavel Pike then back along the path and down over Birks before a steep descent back to the road.smocks and denims16/05/2024

A long hard day to pick up Gavel Pike, Cofa Pike and Gale Crag, involving going over St. Sunday Crag, Fairfield, Hart Crag and Hartsop-above-How. Well worth the effort. After the intial ascent the hardest part was the descent from Hart Crag. A outstanding walk.BURGESS07/07/2023

From Deepdale Bridge. 14.5 km, 900 m asc. To Patterdale and up the S ridge to Arnison Crag. Down to Trough Head and W up to Birks summits and continuing up to Gavel Pike and St Sunday Crag. Back to the Gavel Moss col and down by the Elmhow zig-zags. Back by Thornhow and Glenamara Park.
