No actual summit but a brilliant technical orienteering event all around and over the many rocky crags of the long summit ridge and high ground. The O map depicting all of this complex rocky terrain is a work of precision magic. Before my run helped set up the High Start with Angie & Nigel on a lovely sunny warm still clear October day -unbelievable after days of clagged in fells and heavy rain. Had a good run on Green 7/56. Poor Angie came back battered and bloodied having taken a tumble, and sadly another competitor required mountain rescue and air ambulance to Preston Hospital with talk of a broken leg - grim. MT leader said it was rare for orienteers to require a call out. The compulsory carry a whistle rule makes sense.Chris Pearson08/10/2023

My final English Marilyn. Parked at the bottom of Hard Knott Pass to the east and walked up the steep road to the high point before heading north up to Hard Knott. A reasonable track all the way up from the road. High winds on top making it tricky to take the photos and hold the flag. Just enough energy to find the geocache up here. Retreated a bit down before opening the alcohol-free prosecco and home-made ginger cake.Father Ted26/10/2021
