Up from South Wales to finish off my English Marilyns. I wasn't in our original plan to walk today but having made good time and seeing the weather forecast for heavy raid on Wednesday we decided to tackle this one. Parked in the Longlands Lake car park, made an error of heading east initially but corrected ourselves and headed north up the east side of the river bank, then east along thee tracks, through farmyard and over road to pick up C2C route all the way to the top. The high point isn't the first cairn so needed to go on further to the top.Father Ted24/10/2021

Nice afternoon out with friends. The weather turned out way better than expected and we were treated to a stunning panorama of the coast, surrounding fells and countryside. Unfortunately, we could not see the Isle of Man properly though, as it was partially obscured by clouds. All in all. A great walk. 11/10. Would walk again.DAB8114/04/2018

From Lowther Wood. A descent before the walk to the top seems strange. But the valleys on the E side are what makes it a Marilyn. Interesting 2h, nice scenery esp.around Nanycatch Gate. Wainwright says 'Dent has a modest elevation, yet as a viewpoint it has great stature' - which is only right for a Marilyn. Lucky AW,he didn't know about the necessity on bag the things.pwheeler25/09/2008
