Walk up from the car park via track in search of snow bunting but no luck with only a solitary raven to be found. | 3 kinnears | 07/02/2024 |
From small cp at new glen. Space for five cars. Up past Knockendoch and up to top. Fine and cold weather fantastic views. A classic HUGH! | colazione | 07/01/2024 |
With Sue from the free Ardwall car park and a donation to Moffat Mountain Rescue in the box. Did not take the proposed path diversion but ordinary route up through the forest and out on to the open hillside to the cairn and trig point on clear good paths. Poor distant visability but weather improved on way down. | Frank | 13/08/2023 |
Arrived with AlmaAurea & Meltdiceburg of Team HAM on an epic hike for geocaches on an amazing day weather wise. Well worth the hike and a visit to the trig point too! | Hitman9956 | 09/07/2023 |
Up and down new path with u3a in fairly poor conditions. | SS | 28/06/2023 |
With G | PJT | 26/06/2023 |

from Ardwall, up and down path. | IanHHill | 13/08/2022 |
Up and down track. Superb weather and views. | dal | 04/06/2022 |
Solo trip. The hill was mobbed (what do you expect on a fine Saturday). Very impressed with the quality of the track. View all the way to Isle of Man. | Invicta14 | 28/05/2022 |
With J on a sunny late afternoon from Ardwall car park (donation box for Moffat MRT). Up & down the constructed motorway for the superlative view at the unexpectedly deserted top. Isle Of Man visible. Skylarks & meadow pipits everywhere. | NotReallyABagger | 28/05/2022 |
Early morning ascent following a bivvy on Knockendoch. Descended via the excellent new path to Ardwall then mostly road walking back to Dumfries. About 20km. | Christo1979 | 24/04/2022 |
From Ardwall using excellent new path with Cat. Rather faster than I'd have done on my own. | SS | 15/04/2022 |
Up new path from small CP nr Mid Glen, over Knockendoch, very pleasant approach. On to Boreland Hill, rough going. | agentmancuso | 25/03/2022 |
Up and down very well constructed path from Ardwall. Cloud on top. | raffemeister | 12/01/2022 |

Park at farm, very pleasant climb with Adrian, hot & sunny. Return by same route. | alwaysinshorts | 05/09/2021 |
From New Abbey via Knochendoch and back via tracks near the loch.Grey day but still good views. With Bridget. | catman | 31/08/2021 |
From the main car park. Moderately steep incessant path from CP to top. New path is gravel based and not too nice on my knees coming down, Trekking poles recommended. Good views, probably better if you explored the area. | Jhimmy | 28/08/2021 |
Evening walk to Criffel on the tourist path and then an out and back to Knockendoch. Beautiful sunny evening, glorious views and sunset. Second visit but obviously not logged the first time. Solo. | meltdiceburg | 25/08/2021 |
circuit combined with Knockendoch and Criffel. Difficult section with cow-filled field, too much interest in the dog so we skirted north of the boundary dyke and through a very wet rough woodland to regain the track. With SMcC, CH, C, and the dog | catlovesmaps | 23/08/2021 |
From permissive car park at farm, up refurbished path to summit area. High point seemed to be 20 m beyond TP. | henryfm | 07/08/2021 |
Decided to give the new track a try and walked straight up from the car park rather than by my usual Knockendoch route. | 3 kinnears | 03/08/2021 |
From New Abbey over Knockendoch to summit cairn and pillar. Back down tourist route to forest track and path back to new abbey | Wayne Mac | 17/07/2021 |
Afternoon walk from the Mid Glen carp park. The most beautifully prepared path up through the forest abruptly stops at the foot of Knockendoch, which is a tough punchy climb. I imagine the top part of this walk would be boggy in winter. A worthy hill to climb so close to the coastline. | Cammy68 | 13/07/2021 |
A hill that's been on the to do list for years. The path up now makes it much easier. Windy on the summit. | Walker Dan | 22/06/2021 |
Revisit. First time on new upper path. Covered with compacted snow. Done with family. Bitterly cold. | jigglybones | 12/02/2021 |
From car park at Mid Glen. Up and down same track. Very icy. Still snow on top. | Slightly Mad | 08/01/2021 |
Parked at the usual spot in Ardwall and followed the new path that's still under construction, to the summit returned the same way, Three mile in Two hours. | WAYNE ROWLETT | 14/10/2020 |
From New Abbey over Knockendoch first to the trig, then the cairn. Down new path to the forest above Loch Kindar. Followed forest track back to New Abbey | Wayne Mac | 10/10/2020 |
Early jaunt up the new path to the summit | Brucethemoth | 04/10/2020 |
Ascent from car park with A&C. Up through forest to find good stone path had been laid making ascent easier. The most awkward manoeuvre was passing the parked digger near the top. Visited cairn and trig point for great views across Sloway Firth to Lake District and IOM. | PeterD | 29/08/2020 |
From Ardwall, two visits in the one day, out and back to Boreland Hill | Colin Crawford | 19/08/2020 |
Very hot sunny day. Steep climb after the forest, but levels out to the peak.

Walked alone | RO-7023 | 17/06/2020 |
At speed as light fading, from Mid Glen parking over Knockendoch, out and back. Path bad. Sunny day, stiff chill breeze, Lakes looked cloudy. En route Edinb to Ldn. | Rounsfell | 14/11/2019 |
From New Abbey | abbo0001 | 04/11/2019 |
1 of 3: From Ardwall Mains CP. Very muddy quagmire for the upper section. Excellent views. With Karen. | ChrisR | 21/10/2019 |
From New Abbey | solitaryfellwanderer | 12/10/2019 |
Lovely walk through trees until open fell reached then it became a tad boggy....Nice views over the Solway. | steven ruffles | 08/10/2019 |
Called by on way to stranraer belfast ferry. Up good forest track then the boggy path. Great views | cjo | 13/09/2019 |
Couldn't remember if had climbed this at Hogmanay 1998 whilst staying at Barrend, so re-walked it from Ardwall. Boggy ascent, impressive cairn, no hangover this time! | summitter | 05/09/2019 |
Very boggy. Via Knockendoch | conanharrod | 06/06/2019 |
SOLO | Vin | 02/05/2019 |

With Rue, Davie, Graham in mist, unfortunately. | davechaffey | 28/02/2019 |
Alone, from Sweetheart Abbey. Overcast, dry but cold. Long slog up and lost in forest on descent. Not an enjoyable walk! | Gazza1951 | 03/01/2019 |
From Ardwall Mains. Easy walk. First part is on a recently phrased path. Second half is on an eroded and muddy path. Enjoyable. | trimarc2 | 24/08/2018 |
