Arts Cross to Ballinatunshoge on hot day. Turlough Hill (681m), Camaderry (698m), Mullacor (657m). | tobywharne | 23/07/2014 |
Summit 6/7 of the walk. 26.9kms in 6hrs 41mins. Started up Derrybawn Mountain 474m from the Glendalough lower lake. Went along the ridge from Derrybawn to Mullacor 657m. Continued onwards to Lugduff East Top 637m and Lugduff 652m, bog slogged up Conavalla 734m which had some snow on top! From Conavalla to Tomaneena 681 via crazy peat hags, snow and bog! Finished up Camaderry Mountain 698m and then back to the car park! | simoburn | 02/02/2014 |
Took this hike today. Could have gone most of the way up the road but that wasnt a challenge so we decided on about the 2nd bend on the road to climb up into the heather and make our way across. It was challenging to say the least. The wind was roaring, the rain was pouring and I had a 6 yr old in toe but it was very enjoyable until we got to the top to realize we were fenced in by a 10ft fence to stop us getting near the hydro electric reservoir!! Had to scale down the side of the mountain using the road as a guide which was great as the weather was disimproving by the minute and eventually got to a point where we could hook up with the road to go back down the rest of the way by way of jumping across the ditch. All in all was very enjoyable but no summit to speak of so we had to pick a point and then celebrate our hike :) | Lizzie Murray | 18/05/2012 |
climbed with brendan and hillwalkers group lovely walk bad weather , cold misty and raining but great day | stharman | 20/04/2010 |
fa, with wife, 13.7 miles, clear and sunny, from the g/lough car park, to derrybawn mtn, via the wicklow way and a faint path to the summit, followed the ridge s/e to the path & over emulator, continued onto lug duff and a top, along a boggy ridge to conavalla, to lough firrib with a very suspect section, better ground to tomaneena and then camaderry. descended s/e to a top through some old scots pine trees with a herd of deer rutting and right back down to the car park. | rum doodle | 11/10/2008 |
damp heather/rock SW summit; service road round resr is highest point, natural summit ht/locn v unclear (in mist). Walk up gated access road from Wicklow Gap, V high fence round resr, feasible if you can find the way :-). Dillon mentions ESB minibus tours. | RHW | 23/04/2005 |
