From the Gilfach nature reserve centre. Up path to col then along ridge to top. | PeterD | 30/07/2024 |
From SN 9712 7076 using a short section of the Wye Valley Walk. | summitsup | 19/05/2024 |
From the Gilfach, old farm visitors centre up the waymarked path to the col and along ridge to the summit. | LizH | 18/04/2024 |
From the Gilfach Nature Reserve buildings leaving the NYHY lot behind. | Newton Maximus | 06/07/2023 |
Parked at .358 on the minor road up from Rhayader. On the way up I took the Wye Valley Walk for a few fields but the path is horribly poached by the sheep. Then gate, bwf and gate to the open access land. A great viewpoint over the upper Wye valley. On the descent I headed for the PRW that runs to the south for a much easier route back to the car. | Rob Rees | 03/02/2022 |
Gilfach NR car park at SN 9648 7168 - Up to Old Farmyard, through pedestrian gate & up the pleasant Wye Valley Walk to ridge - W. along ridge to summit rock which is slowly being covered in moss, lichen, heather & bilberry. 2 fences crossed, the first of which was topped with barbed wire. Red kites active. (S) | gerrybowes | 17/09/2021 |

A lovely top. From Rhayader along the Wye Valley Walk before going out and back to the top. A cold frosty morning. | Alan Moore | 04/01/2019 |
Must learn to read the instructions. Thought I'd visit the reserve and climb up under the trees. Full of thorny flora and the fauna have probably now deserted if they're sensitive to bad language. Came back down the ridge and Wye Valley walk as sensible people recommend. | Eddie | 30/09/2018 |
Easy walk across sheep pasture from SE- parking on grass verge. HP is rock outcrop in heather and bilberry with good views of surrounding Welsh hills. Kites soared overhead in blue skies. | Denise | 31/08/2018 |
From the E. Farm track to ridge line then cultivated pasture to rougher access land with summit of outcropping slate. Good views. | RichardM | 31/08/2018 |
First of nine on sunny day (Gamallt/Pen Y Garn/Banc Hir/Geifas West Top/Geifas/Domen Milwyn/Bryn Dafydd/Hafod Ithel/Cefn Blewog) | Fergalh | 17/04/2016 |
From Gilfach Farm. Same thoughts as 'dicky' on nice people there and walk up with its 3 obstacles, 2 gates but then one barbed wire fence. Good hill-walk despite that. Went over another obstacle to continue a 13 mile walk, described under Garreg Lwyd | pwheeler | 05/05/2013 |
from Gilfach centre (nice parking as are people who work there) up easy to follow Wye Valley walk to ridge, then 3 obstacles - easy gate at first but then one barb fence (new) followed by easy gate/stile. Fab views. | dicky | 17/04/2013 |
From visitor centre - a smashing walk on a sunny afternoon. | Chris Peart | 06/10/2012 |

Parked to SE. Wye Valley Path to ridge then turned left along the ridge. | clivevilla | 11/03/2012 |
From Visitor Centre. Kept to the track/path all the way to the ridge. Fairly steady. Good walk. | destaylor | 16/08/2011 |
Same as Gary - why do fences have to have barbed wire? Great view. | Martin R | 06/08/2011 |
Proper hill after 4 Motorway Marylins earlier in the day. Visitor's car park over railway bridge then up steep hillside over fence then turn right to aim for summit on warm hazy afternoon before a few beers in Rhayader with its 13 pubs. | Dugswell2 | 24/04/2010 |

With Ian, Chris, Fred and Phil | mavero10 | 31/08/2008 |
Set off at 4.45pm so the light had just about gone when I reached the summit, which is obvious even though uncairned. Legs prickled mercilessly by masses of gorse on the way down with headtorch! | signyred | 13/11/2007 |
Started from the visitors centre at Gilfach and used the path their to climb steadily. Then over a couple of fences to reach the top. Good views up and down the Wye valley could be had from here. | garyhoney | 18/02/2002 |
