The first of The Three Peaks | suzannerowcliffe | 31/08/2024 |
Run up from Horton. Just before Hull Pot I headed up to Pen-y-Ghent. It was hard work. Weather was cloudy but dry and the clouds were just above the summits. Views limited from Pen-y-Ghent. Was a busy hill. I followed the path north to Plover Hill. Very boggy in places. I gave up trying to keep my trainers dry and just ploughed through the muck. Summit of Plover Hill was very flat ran about on south east side of hill visited a small cairn and another high point close to a sink hole. Where I went corresponds with the high point on this website. Saw a Snipe on the summit headed back down to the main path after crossing a gated wall. It was then back the way I came up. Initially quite steep and I pulled my glute. Lower down my calf started playing up a bit. As I arrived at the car it started to drizzle. Time taken 1 hour 58 minutes for 9.46 miles and 1714 feet of ascent. | isabelle | 26/08/2024 |

Circular from Horton with a quick trip to Hull Pot | MountainTerrier | 19/11/2022 |
Day trip on the train from Leeds to Horton, then along the Pennine Journey/Way onto the PYG/Plover ridge. After Plover Hill tracked back and up Pen y Ghent. Cloud lifted so had some views. Descended down the nose and back to Horton station. It's been many years since my last ascent and was pleased to see the flagstone/cinder trails on the hill rather than the previous bogfest given the number of users. A donation to the upkeep seems a small price to pay. With Gillian. | richard69 | 18/11/2022 |
