From the south like others. | Moorponder | 18/10/2022 |
Left the car at the end of the minor road north of Rhobell y big 78802 29243,and followed the ROW to east of summit and then the fun began mostly pathless over Rhobell y big, Rhobell Ganol, Rhobell fawr, Moel Cae'r defaid west & east top and Dduallt. A note of warning the return to the car after dropping off the last summit due north to ford the river, if this is in spate the crossing can be a difficult wide crossing with slippery stones, I got caught out and tried using the south bank to return, This is not advised instead it would probably be best to try and return through the forest near Foel Gron although this could be also be tricky. Nine and half miles in Seven and half hours(GPS suggested Five hours). | WAYNE ROWLETT | 04/06/2022 |
Drove up from South, through three gates, parked just off the tarmac where it ends at junction of forest roads. No signs saying not to do so, and passing 4x4 vehicle didn't stop. | Minto | 25/05/2022 |
6/6 (Moel Pen-y-Bryn/Llechwedd Mawr/Bryn Mawr/Cerrig Y Leirch/Moel Cae'r-defiad West Top/Craig y Benglog) | Fergalh | 24/10/2021 |
From the west summit with Degsy. 80 minute walk for both tops. Windy! | bolton | 14/10/2021 |
As others: parked on grass beyond the end of the minor road at SH 797 236. Quick up and down through the fields (initially on tarmac), visiting both West and East tops of Moel Cae'r-defaid. | PGCE | 06/02/2021 |
5/5 Deweys for the day. Parked by a gate beyond the end of the minor road at SH 797 236. Quick up and down though the fields, visiting both West and East tops of Moel Cae'r-defraid. Great view of Cader from the summit. 3.4km with 220m ascent in 1h20m. (S) | silveracorn_alan | 23/09/2020 |
From West Top, simple descent by fence, past hummock to stone wall. Over this where it's part-collapsed, then short climb to summit cairn. | Amplifier | 07/09/2019 |
Moel Cae’r - defaid West > Craig y Benglog (Moel Cae’r - defaid East Top) from GR: SH 79659 23225 | ronaldo333 | 06/07/2019 |
Parked at 79668 23252 on the grass. Moel Cae'r-Defraid West Top. Went up the right hand track at the fork, past 246 to a track cutting back which becomes a path at a turning circle and then doubles back again. Continued to E Top. As others state, the key is to find the gap where the wall is falling down at 804245. Also as others state, head for the gate at 799241 on the descent and eventually hit the same track that you went up on. 1h 21mins 5.4km. | clivevilla | 11/12/2018 |
Park at Cwm allt y lwyd bend 788282,Rhobell y big, Rhobell ganol, Rhobell Fawr, Rhobell fawr west top descend down faint path near wall east to plantation track, down track 600m 797249 then use ride which has easy path SE to to ride going SE to Moel Caer defaid west top, Craig y Benglog. then straight walk to Ddualt cross stream at 80702 25400 ground surprisingly dry. decent from Ddualt N fenceline to ford. Old posts and mesh scattered causing trip hazard | underhill | 17/11/2018 |
Parked past gate on road where a vague track makes its way up the hill towards the top. Followed the track until it gave out and then followed a fence. Crossed fence and walked over to the wall mentioned in some postings. Not difficult to cross. Up to top. From top back down to wall, over it and up and across to the west top. Last bit quite steep. Down towards the forest, now flattened and picked up a ride down to the good track. Followed this back to the car. Very dry on ground. | MikeM | 11/05/2017 |
Noted Mark T’s comments for W. Top & parked on grass slope just beyond the gate at 7966 2325. After ascent of W. Top, headed ESE & had little difficulty crossing the wall at SH 80441 24534. From summit cairn, went back over the wall & then made way back to gate at 799241. (S) | gerrybowes | 29/04/2017 |
From Cwm-Hasgen a round of Rhobell-y-big, Rhobell Ganol, Rhobell Fawr, Moel Cae'r-defaid West Top, Craig y Benglog, Dduallt and Ffridd yr Allt-llwyd. | rhalstead | 22/11/2015 |
Continuation of walk from Foel Ddu 465m. Headed down to stile at SH 81469 24864, then down to Afon Fiddon, which I crossed with relative ease - would be dangerous in spate. Then steeply up to a minor top in a 430m ring contour, and on up by grassy rakes through crags to cairned summit. Walk continued to Moel Cae'r-defraid. | Man of Kernow1 | 04/01/2015 |
From 3383 big wall meant a lot of descent. | destaylor | 14/04/2014 |
