Group charter with Farsain Cruises organized by Mervyn Jack; Cuan pick up. Landed straight from big boat onto rocks near N end of the island. Interesting island with plenty of vegetation this time of the year; cave definitely worth a visit. | jonglew | 24/07/2018 |
Mervyn Jack organised trip with Farsain Cruises. The cave is unusual in that the owner apparently lived in it from 1973 until 2003, worth a visit. | chalky1953 | 24/07/2018 |
Boat trip from Cuan Ferry with Farsain Cruises.Tricky landing on NE of island then rough terrain to top with much bracken. Explored hermit's cave before pick up. | NormanW | 24/07/2018 |
Thanks to Mervyn for organising Duncan to take us out to Insh Island. We landed near the Cave, traversed the island to the high point, bagged it then headed back to look into David’s former cave residence which had not been inhabited since 2003. Interesting island and worth the visit. | assynt_bob | 24/07/2018 |
Adrian and I pushed the boat out and forked up the dosh for a 2hr stint on Insh Island from Ellenabeich. We 1st visited the cave, then a full traverse, up and over rocky knolls, around sharp Willow scrub and eventually up to the spongy machair summit.

We scrambled up and over the shoreline in explore mode to our designated pick-up point. A fantastic outing! | Dazingdale | 18/05/2018 |
