Parked at the large lay by at 239613. East along the road, then over the gate and up the new track to the open hillside, past the small hydro dam, onto the ATV track, then directly north east on good terrain skirting the west top to the col and along the summit area to the top with fantastic views. Retraced steps.Owen B20/06/2024
Revisit. On route between An Cabar West Top and Carn na Beiste. Visited summit and trig.PGCE31/05/2024
From small tarmac pull-in (NH243614), through gate and up through forest as described by Gill to hydro track, followed that up to small hydro dam, continued on to Loch na Carra on a grassy and currently dry foot track, NE up slopes to An Cabar West Top, along ridge to An Cabar main summit, descended initially W roughly contouring along S flank of An Cabar ridge, turning down SW to meet the grassy track near where Alltan Glass meets the Allt Daraich, and back to start (3h5m)kdbennett18/05/2024
From the west top in clear conditions with wet snow underfoot. Great views of the Fannichs. Returned back over the west top to the parked car 300 yds west of Strathbran Lodge. 3.5 hours return. Solo.bolton12/02/2024
Similar route to Gill, but left the path not long after the end of of the hydro road and cut across rough ground, thankfully fairly dry in lovely sunny weather.govanah05/09/2023
With Tony J whilst travelling across to the RHSoc gathering over in Aultbea. Decent walk up a very fine hill even if the prevailing winds were unabating and fierce for the whole duration.Alex C03/09/2023
Hydro road involves climbing a metal gate and then it leads steeply up the hill to its end where a rather old ATV track continues. Just before the lochan take to the open hillside and ascend the West Top and the Marilyn.Crumblie219/04/2023
With Malky from Grudie Bridge. Went over southern of the two eastern sub-tops then struggled through soft snow and bog on plateau. Summit clear and decent views, but Munro tops under cloud. Cut down north to the road and plodded out in rain. Rounsfell05/01/2023
A gem of a Marilyn on a lovely day. Parked in a tarmac pull in right at the end of the old path just by a disused gate (the bush in the middle of the track is a clue). The gate can be opened by lifting it to release the catch. Across the small stream, through a gate, to join a lovely old track which goes through another gate and then to the hydro track at the turbine house. As others, up the track (outrageously steep in places) to the dam then old grassy track along the stream to Loch na Curra where you get a wonderful surprise view of the Fannaichs. Easy walk up along the An Cabar ridge, good going, lovely views all the way. No ATV tracks or other signs of paths etc. once on the hill, makes a nice change. A real stunner of a walk.Gill23/04/2022
Lovely sunny day with Rhona, Gordon, Heather and Struie. Parked at Strathbran Lodge, small amount of parking on opposite side of road. Path to W of lodge leads N to Loch na Currah. At convenient point, cut east along ridge to summit and trig point. Return same way.DampandDusty06/03/2022
From gate at NH 24205 61440 - had to climb gate but saves going into lodge garden. Easy hill as everywhere was very dry.nicolajane12/06/2021
Over the high locked gate at NH242614 West of Strathbran lodge. up the new road to the top of the forest then a direct route to the summit. returned same way. with elizyanneGmacT22/05/2021

Evening walk from A832, large Layby west of Strathbran Lodge. 200m east newish track all the way through forest to mini hydro scheme. Quad tracks then easy ground to summit, thicker heather in places. Brilliant views down Loch Fannich, good sunset as I rushed to get down before dark, helpful track.N.Morters21/10/2016
Parked at roadside space near tge lodge where path comes down on map. Can get through that gate, and another with a conifer growing in it to use path from lodge up to hydro building. Then the track up to 300m intake. Old path to boathouse on lochan then a line across the hills to gain summit. A line back down more directly using the main burn line works well to gain the return track.nordicstar19/08/2016
Track to the boathouse then across to the top. Good route down by stream back to track.jenx18/08/2016
New track from W of Strathbran Lodge but shade would have been preferable. Old track continues for a while onto open moorland the going soon becomes soft. Returned along west ridge, a bit further but worth it for the views.Topographer5716/08/2016

From deer gate west of Strathban Lodge there is a new track as far as a newly built intake. Used the original path part of the way before diverting to P30s. Came back more directly to the intake.Martin R05/10/2014
Good track from lodge through trees then took direct line to summit, no paths, but easier than I'd feared.AndrewFinnimore29/09/2014
