Return visit to record summit GR. Taxi from Oban to Strontoiller road end, then route as in May 2016, except that on ascent from glen to east of Bàrr Beag could not locate rusty gate, and paths obscured by bracken. Sunny with some cloud; view hazier than last time. Walked all the way back to Oban: this was the day after the Scottish Government issued tighter coronavirus restrictions, including guidance against offering or accepting lifts. No offers, either from motorcyclists or car drivers! | mainnirnamfiadh | 24/09/2020 |
13th tump of 14 on a route from Kilmore to North Connel with Adrian, climbing Dun Iadain, Torr Dhamh, Tom Donn, Corr Chnoc, An Car, Cnoc Eoin, Torr an Tuirc, Glenamachrie Hill then solo for Deadh Choimhead, Creag Ruisgte, Cruach Glenamachrie, Cruach Glenamachrie West top continuing West then Nw to break out of the forest and head upto this top, recording 129m @ NM 91217 30096. Met up with Adrian at the top and we continued on to the final top Kilvaree, with a spot of bother en-route... | Dazingdale | 19/05/2018 |
After Kilvaree Hill. Approach road to Strontoiller, left past farmhouse on to track and up to the right of Bàrr Beag. Left through rusty gate and up paths to top of Bàrr Mòr. Cruachan hidden, but views to Dùn Dà Ghaoithe, Beinn a’ Bheithir, and hills on west side of Loch Etive. Down over Bàrr Beag to track past Strontoiller, then roads into Oban (the last couple of miles in a sidecar courtesy of the same motorcyclist who gave me a lift last July - see log on 11311 Àird Luing!). | mainnirnamfiadh | 14/05/2016 |
