5th hill of 5 on way from Helmsdale to Kildonan.Crossed Railway and River at level crossing and footbridge near Kilearnan. 9 hours in good weather. Returned by train in 14 minutes. | lordtonult | 03/06/2024 |
Parked close to the suspension bridge at Dalchalmie. Faint path up Alltan Alasdair to the fence at 150m asl, then pathless through the heather, but reasonably firm, even, dry ground despite copious recent rainfall. | Owen B | 20/09/2023 |
From the suspension bridge - up the fence - across the grassy area - bear right to a grassy gully - steeply up to the tundra like summit slopes. | Chris Peart | 25/04/2023 |
An anti-clockwise round of three Marilyns and four Tumps from Kilphedir. | Minto | 28/07/2022 |
Seventh and last hill of the day for me. Long walk from Kilphedir visiting Cnoc na Maoile, Creag Scalabsdale SE Top, Creag Scalabsdale, Suidh' an Fhir-bhig, Creag man Gearr, Cnoc Salisdale & Beinn Dubhain. Direct descent to the road west of Balvalaich where we had left the car. With Minto. | Dangerous Dave | 28/07/2022 |
As per Bolton. 8C at the car. Good views from summit with only a few patches of snow on the hills to the far west. CTC 2 hours. | Coinneach | 18/01/2022 |
Parked by the wooden shack near the suspension bridge. Followed the faint path that approximately follows the wee burn. Straight up the rather steep hillside - the heather gets shorter as you go up!
Tundra like summit with small cairn. Fine views all around and a snow bunting flitting about. On then to 394 m top, then The Pap. Similar route back. | David Bremner | 16/10/2021 |

From Baile an Or car park. | ger | 09/09/2020 |
Parked at the Gold Rush site of Baile an Or. Picked our way east and then SE away from unsuitable bracken or deep heather. With Ger in 2.25 hours. | bolton | 09/09/2020 |
Parked at fishing hut, easy wee walk. Lots of covid/access notices. Inaccurate and a bit dubious, so reported to the access officer, who agrees, but doesn't seem to want to take action. Oh well. | iangalbraith | 15/07/2020 |
From Baile an Or, on return from Creag Scalabsdale with Ellie dog. | BLACKHILL | 18/06/2019 |
Wet and misty. Up from gold rush informatiion point | trimarc2 | 18/05/2019 |
As per jonglew. No problems with deep heather. Good views over Helmsdale Glen. | willyross | 19/03/2019 |
From a good parking place by the burn SE of Duible. Easy up the fence on mossy grass tongues between heather patches to a gateway, then boggy grass to where the hill steepens, heather (hard work), then a nice tundra summit area. | Gill | 28/02/2019 |
Roadside pull-in near Duible (NC 9262 1975). Took a direct route to the top, steeper than expected and upper third with dense covering of heather. | jonglew | 28/02/2019 |
Down to NNW to stream and picked up a steadily improving path/road to Suisgill Lodge | Alan Moore | 21/05/2018 |
4 of 4: From Cnoc Salislade. With David. | ChrisR | 30/10/2017 |
From suspension bridge. An easy one, smooth and dry ground, mostly short grass and heather, nice views of river. | Topographer57 | 29/09/2017 |
Parked at Baile an Or and up ridge. Would have been better going from due South | Thearlaichdubh | 24/05/2017 |
From suspension bridge. Not a very nice heathery hill. | NormanW | 21/05/2017 |
Quick up and down - straightforward. | martin_hall | 19/03/2017 |

Ascent from road through low cloud. | JohnW | 15/06/2012 |
Parked on A897 Kinbrace road at the gold mine. Very strong wind behind me. Knee high heather with burnt patches made for mixed going to the horizon to see top of hill 1 3/4 miles away to the right. Over the still dry moor of varied stuff to a small col before final plod over tussocky grass sponge and cotton grass to top at 15.00. | arranc | 20/06/2008 |
