| Parked by gate at NH658982 (7:45) and walked up track. Many trees now felled on W side. Left the track where it crosses the W ridge. Used faint but useful path by the edge of the wood before striking up towards small col and summit (8:45). Also visited the E top to be sure. Back by same route. Finish 9:55. | Just room to park by the no parking sign without blocking the access gate at 659982. Straightforward walk up the track though tree felling is taking place before striking up at the hillside at 671967. | Parked in extra large passing place beside Loch Buidhe at NH659982. The one 'keep out construction site' sign was outvoted by two 'walkers welcome' signs (I think the keep out sign refers to the fenced-off sub-station area; either the installers of the sign found it easier to fix it to wood than to wire or they wanted a laugh by perplexing walkers). SE up the forest track then up W ridge, carefully avoiding the saplings which someone has toiled with shoulder bag and spade to plant, even though the little blighters will eventually grow to obstruct the route. | Isbjorn | 28/12/2018 |
| Limited parking to west behind passing place at around NH642950. Track to end of Loch an Lagain. North along burn in wide tree break to West end of summit ridge. Descended to Loch Beinn Domhnaill. Path southwards through trees (narrow fire break) contains many fallen trees making for difficult progress in places. Ascended to Loch a' Gobhair - the first section of track is indistinct and rough. | During a fine weather week in Sutherland with J. This was a day off the Corbetts, but that just meant a couple of Marilyns instead! From a large passing place at NH657982 at the side of Loch Buidhe, walked about 50m along the road to the forest track. The first 200m has been appropriated by construction traffic for the large Loch Buidhe substation & a rather unfriendly 'Keep Out' notice contrasted to the Forestry Commission 'Visitors Welcome' post. Not much sign of activity, so we pressed on up the track to the point where the forestry clears & then directly up the slope to the summit & visited the E top too. Saplings are growing extensively on all this ground. Good viewpoint. | Parked near the dam at the head of Loch Buidhe and headed straight up. the terrain was a mixture of tussocks, bog and soft snow, making for hard work. There were negotiable fire breaks through the trees but this route is not to be recommended, although the heavy snow didn't help. | Good parking by the no parking sign next to the forestry gate by Loch Buidhe. Up the track, passing under 2 sets of pylons and passing a substation construction site away to the right, then on an older track through the forestry. I took the old, overgrown, short track branching left at the highest point of the track, then up along the edge of the trees towards the hill. Over the first top, down, then up to the summit.
