Asked permission to park at Bankhead House at end of the cul de sac Road to the north. When back, ended up having long interesting chat with Ian who's a woodworker with fabulous workshop in big byre. Four children and nine grandchildren just like my 92 year old mum, though Ian is just 71 and all the extended family live within 25 miles so all the cousins are good mates. He's also an accordian player. Cup of coffee and long good blether.vegibagger29/11/2021
tinlaw, whiteside hill, beacon hill from 0383 7926.robertphillips23/10/2021
Parked on wide grassy verge at 05124 75591. Ascended beautiful tree lined track to right of Rockhall Burn, then on to Hazelshaw Hill. Continued N along ridge to Carthat Hill, and on to Beacon Hill. Descended via Barluith farm track, before bagging Whiteside Hill on the way down. Dropped from there, past Whiteside farm, and down to road. Along quiet road back to car. Great views all day. This is cow country (not sheep) so watch out for angry beasts, and avoid!Toby-and-Dion18/04/2021
From NY 0383 7926. Tinlaw and Whiteside Hill first, then across to here for a pleasant 4.5 mile wander with Adrian. Cattle country, electrified stock fencing and mashed up, muddy ground aplenty.jonglew05/11/2020
I can pip you Chris, with a triple completion - the Topo Region and Lochar/ Annan catchments. I used a bike to reach Bankhead (no parking spots at all on the narrow road) then had an easy walk up through cattle pasture. Wide views, an obvious site for a beacon.Colin Crawford21/10/2019
A double completion - topo P05 and catchment Lochar. P by Pierbanks Bridge. Followed track to Barluith before cutting through wood and onto the summit. A biting wind.chrisbien31/03/2018
A fine view point.Dave Geere20/12/2017
Walked up from the nearest public road approach (NE) - passing a sign with just the word 'Danger' - with no explanation (I suspect its is to do with gas pipeline nearby). An interesting crinkly hill - lots of exposed geology, possibly some pre-historical use - fortification or mine workings. Saw my second Easter Bunny (A surprised hare). Forest plantation to the west means this is no longer an ideal site for a beacon fire. There are only two Scottish beacon hills in the 'bagging' list - and just 10 miles or so apart.
