From Sallachan along track to end of loch then more or less straight up to the Allt a’ Choire Leith which I followed up to the ridge - bit tussocky lower down but not bad and improved as I climbed. Great viewpoint. Down the ridge wending between the outcrops and back to the tussocks. | StueyB | 05/09/2024 |
From Sallachan. Followed track under telegraph poles to open gate in deer fence. Track continues up to ridge. Easy going by keeping to rocks on ridge. Up to trig and then summit. Took 1hr 20mins. Back same way. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 04/08/2023 |
Up to the Trig & Top from Sallachan. Fab views down Glencoe and over to The Ben. | summitter | 28/02/2023 |
Up from Sallachan…..rough going! | Chris Peart | 21/06/2021 |
With: hb; Parked at Sallachan under trees N of bridge NM978629. Under power lines then up E steep E ridge which eases off at 400m. Nice ridge up to Trig Point and then across to summit cairn. Excellent views over loch Linnhe to Glencoe. Returned by similar route. | Ian Baines | 15/05/2021 |
Early morning from Sallachan Bridge. Up the ridge, steep start through rocky sections, fine views into Glencoe. Short 2.5hrs up/down. | N.Morters | 09/11/2019 |
Climbed in nice sunshine after a morning of heavy rain and gales. Up the E ridge, with a bit of grovelling up around steep heathery slabs, to the lovely summit ridge. Superb views. Down the NW ridge, fine at first with nice views, but a noxious tussock fest lower down. Stupidly, I took the direct route down by the Allt Tom a'Phris, which becomes even nastier still, with bracken amongst long grass, tussocks and concealed rocks. Back along the track feeling like I had been beaten up. | Gill | 24/10/2019 |
From Sallachan - ascent more or less by rib on far right - lots of slabby outcrops. Fine hill - good summit views. | ger | 19/10/2019 |
From parking spot just N of hump bridge at NM978629. Through gate on RoW up Glen Gour, to ruin, then up under power lines to upper deer gate. The prospects ahead look unpromising, very steep, with slabby rocks - deffo not for an on-sight descent. Followed rusty old fence line steeply up R to high point, then cut up L towards grassy V gully on R of slabby rocky area and up subsidiary grassy rib to R of V gully. When rib ran out, crossed V gully L and up ramp to point on top of ridge with the slabby rocks (make a note of this point for your descent). Rest is steeply up complex grassy terrain, but easy to spot critical points on your descent. | Isbjorn | 15/06/2019 |
From bridge over River Gour on minor road at bottom of Glen Gour. Short and steep route up (as described by others), longer and gentler way down. Recorded route and write-up at: http://gayleybird.blogspot.com/2018/05/a-bhan-and-beinn-laimhain.html | Gayle | 06/05/2018 |
Straight up from the old weir just off the Sallachan loop road. | NormanW | 18/03/2018 |
From Sallachan, through gate in deer fence and up front face, pretty steep. On way down followed old metal fence going down east ridge. Better. Snow and ice, some sunny spells, great views. | iangalbraith | 27/02/2018 |
In sunshine and soft snow. Windy on top. Drifts. Out and back by direct route. | Rounsfell | 06/02/2018 |
Solo, up and down from Sallachan. | amswanston | 25/11/2017 |
1 of 7: From Salachan. | ChrisR | 29/08/2016 |
On way to SMMC meet at Resipol. | clashcityrocker | 15/06/2016 |
Parked on old road by the River Gour Bridge - took the path signed Strontian 12 miles but only for a bit - started to ascend following the telegraph wires then the steep ridge north of Allt Camas na Craoibhe - trig (502) then lake then the summit cairn (508) before a hail shower tells us its time to descend. The drop is a bit gentler to the sheepfold at Linnie Steallain - the valley entices us further in as far as the protuding bluff on the flanks of Beinn Bheg - then back along the track following the river Gour and Loch na Gabhar to the car. | briandavies | 23/04/2016 |
Direct up from Sallachan. Parking just over the old bridge. Deer gate at road, then a second just behind the first minor top. Then up to the right of a burn line. Trig then cairned high point. Care on way back to follow same line, steep ground to either side. | nordicstar | 11/03/2016 |
A great little hill. Shame about the weather. | jenx | 11/03/2016 |
from sallachan through gate in deer fence near power lines, up through crags to the top. | robertphillips | 22/11/2015 |
Took bus Strontian to Sallachan 978627 (9:55). Walked up road & path up glen, then struck up NE ridge to trig point and then summit of B Leamhain (11:15). Down NW ridge for abt 1 km till crags eased then down to tussocky col (12:00). Overcast but dry. Long ascent to Sgorr Mhic Eacharna (13:10), then via deep col to Beinn Bheag (14:10). Fine undulating rocky ridge with great views of Garbh Bheinn. Finally down to col en route to Sg nan Cnamh; long slabby then rocky ridge led to summit (15:50). Continued ENE, following the long watercourse down to Ceann a Chreagain (ruin). Weather had been overcast but dry; drizzle began on descent. River low so fordable but rocks v slippery. Walked through woods back to Ariundle car park (18:10) and cycled back to car at Strontian. | dbb | 15/06/2015 |
Ascended steeply from Sallachan via gate in deer fence underneath electric pylons. During ascent noticed easier vague ridge further north near trees and used this on descent. Fantastic views of Garbh Bheinn from the summit | raffemeister | 19/04/2015 |
Swift up & down from Sallachan. Fresh snow above 300m. | jimbloomer | 24/03/2015 |

From Sallachan, up rough NE ridge. The hill fog broke up on the summit so I continued to Sgorr Mhic Eacharna. | Topographer57 | 14/07/2013 |
Ascended the north west ridge from Glen Gour. | JohnW | 15/04/2013 |
Parked on A861 near Salachan. Track up Glen Gour for 1 1/2 miles. Diver in loch. Vertical stile in deer fence. Horrendous steep climb with uncertain foot placings, over rough tussock, moss, sludge and deer grass. Each 1' step on uncertain ground. An hour took me to 800'. To visible horizon and final very steep bit with rocks to get onto drier ground, with grass underfoot. To summit ridge and Vanessa trig 9779 at 11.35. Stroll across to 19 stones on the top. Laga, Loch Sunart, G Bheinn, Eacharna, Eanchainne, Loch Linnhe, Ben in cloud, Corran ferry, Pap, Loch Leven and Ben Vair. | arranc | 01/07/2011 |
