From SW, parking in layby not far from junction. Across one field, and a wooden fence. Out of sight of any buildings.PGCE07/05/2024
Lap of Carsington picking up Tumps visionset08/10/2023
Parked by field gate just past the big forbidding wooden gates at 24391 48590, over into the pasture then over a low fence and between wrecked vehicles and across an orchard to summit. Didn't see anybody which is just as well as I wouldn't have known what to say.clivevilla09/11/2022
A bike circuit of the Carsington area hills - Middleton Top, Stainsbro Hill, The Moumtain (not a tump), Rakestone Hill, Badger Moor, Madge Hill, Longcliffe Hill. Sneaked over from lane to SW. Apple trees on topsteveb200619/10/2022
Carsington Reservoir Circular bagging 4 summits and 3 trigs. Walked up the through the field from the north footpath. got as far as i could. GPS reading 251m on floor, so happy to bag itdazedemon02/06/2022
Previous field entrance to SW has now been well secured with high fence and locked gate. Caravan on the grounds which looks like temporary residence for farm workers. Didn't seem to be anyone about.RoguePulsar20/06/2021
Very flat top, difficult to identify topNicky C25/10/2020
Map doesn't show the array of buildings around the summit field. Parked on the apron of a depot on the road to the SW (not on map). Walked a short distance NW along the road then entered the summit field between the double line of trees. Fence weakest to the NW of field boundary. Once into the field walk between the lines of trees directly to the summit.moorsman09/08/2020
From gate to SSE, along field edge with HP in next field. Caravan and van nearby.PeterD02/12/2019
Sunny. It's flat, but if you run from Atlow you get a sense of the height running uphill.davechaffey14/03/2019
Approached from road to the SW.Dugswell213/01/2018
From the gateway SW of the summit, an easy ascent threading through the shelterbelts of trees. Sheep in the fields this week.Moorponder11/01/2018
Used gate into field at FP to E of hill, then headed NW to small wooded area marked on OS map. From here I found a gap in the hedge and headed SW across a couple of fences to the summit.Wheelsy26/10/2017
Easy stroll across mown grass. The trees are maturing and look too close to be a tree nursery, they now look like screening. There is also a Planning application for agricultural accommodation.DC11main06/07/2017

From not so muddy gateway in lane to SW into pasture and then plantation. 4th Tump in 30 minutes! No badgers today.Campbell Singer28/09/2016
Weaved a way through the open trees avoiding farmers in adjacent field literally 'making hay whilst the sun shone'Chris Pearson08/08/2015
A long tump-bagging loop around Carsington Water: Kirk Ireton - Rakestones Hill - Biggin - Badger Moor - Atlow - Madge Hill - Brassington - Longcliffe Hill - Middleton Moor - Stainsbro Hill - Carsington Water east shore - Broom Lane - Kirk Ireton. Easy bag through the meadow/orchard from the lane to the south.davidpettit8405/07/2015
5th hill of Six today on a long walk from Ambergate station: Alport Heights, Stainsbro Hill, Broom lane, Madge Hill and then on the way back to Belper, I climbed up from a minor road. Agree that this hill has a summit that is hard to pin down but did get 248m on my gps module.Dazingdale24/05/2015
Parked at muddy entrance to field and 'tree nursery'. Not very well kept, quite a lot of the plantings have been flattened in the gales. Flattish vague summit.Aye Jimmy26/01/2015
