As matty1971b, parked in tarmacked pull-in to ESE at SE 64598 74797 - E. along road for about 30m & then N. along stone track for about 150m to junction with wide ride/vehicle track (SE 64588 74990) - W. along ride to junction, turned right for about 25m & the left along ride which heads W. & then N. to within about 25m of summit. Where possible, made way through self-seeded birch, but conifers are becoming a big problem.gerrybowes12/05/2024
Parked SE where it says P on topomaps, across road to pick up a forest stoned track, 4th left and continue, then a left, easy to follow Top overgrown, will become more difficult over time, back same waymatty1971b06/04/2024
Paths starting to become bramble infested. Conifers growing in summit area. Summit in a bracken chocked break.cjo12/02/2023
Nightmare. Approach paths in wood semi disappeared. Summit area consists of new planting in a dense bracken and bramble melange. Suggest a winter ascent.jimbloomer18/08/2021
Ambled along the gladed rides, enthused by sunshine and living things. Tried a few possible high points. A mound of bracken amongst birch and pine saplings?Wycombe Wanderer30/05/2021

Eschewed the tourist route and started on the track to Stocking Hill farm then easy woodland track to summit area. Found 2 earth ridges under the bracken.Adrian12/09/2019
Paths in wood overgrown at present. Easier to use gate from SE 6374 7457 and field edge to wood cornercarole engel07/07/2018
Used the tourist route from the south before heading to YHA Helmsley.Dugswell208/04/2018
Parking by gate due south of the summit (alt 81m). Continue north along vehicular track until it stops. Look for a well trodden track running off left which takes you to the field boundary. Turn right and follow wide track to just south of the summit. Large area of newly planted trees with an under cover of brambles, bracken and gorse. No chance of establishing the true highest point. 1.72km return, asc 81mmoorsman08/12/2017
Parked in gateway to south. Round gate/fence and turn immediately left. Followed track around perimeter of the wood then finally climbing to the high point. Plenty of bramble clad lumps to choose from at the top !Moorponder19/08/2017
