A walk between Newport and Cowes, taking in Camp Hill and Sticelett Hill. Camp Hill summit is clearly within the curtilage of the property and I decline to invade gardens but the open gate seemed very little lower. | Colin Crawford | 24/06/2024 |
Last of 26 hills (20 Tumps,5 P20s, and a Notable Dewey) on a successful bagging day trip to the IOW from Southampton giving 13 hrs on the island for £58 return with a small car. Forced my weary legs to jog the uphill from the car park and run down to catch the next ferry back. Made it with 5 mins spare. It must be spooky living in the isolated summit house surrounded by the woods with your nearest neighbours being Parkhurst & Albany prisons who house many infamous murderers, and major offenders.(currently incl Radovan Karadzic-the butcher of Bosnia -convicted of multiple war crimes on a life sentence). In 1995 3 inmates escaped and were caught 4 days later living rough in a shed in Ryde. | Chris Pearson | 09/06/2024 |

parked in car park and walked up past the house and the signal station monument. | Buck | 11/07/2023 |
Walked up from car park. No one around. Hedge opposite the signaler wood carving looks the highest point. | Minto | 13/01/2023 |
After Sticelett Hill. Continued tain road for bus. | PGCE | 01/12/2021 |
Our first IOW hillock whilst looking for red squirrels. None seen ... probably too windy. | summitter | 27/09/2021 |
Walked from Boat on mud at Newport. House is probably over the HP. Did not feel right in Covid times to knock on door so settled for walk around garden hedge of Signal House. Nice wooden carving of a signalman on old stump possibly of same height as garden. Also visited 25/10/2014 but not certain that reached top- but probably reached the same place as today? | Denise | 17/10/2020 |
Privately owned Signal House at summit. Highest point of perimeter fence/hedge is on the S side next to signaler wood carving and very similar in height to ground next to house. Woodland and no views which doesn't seem the best of places for signaling. | RichardM | 17/10/2020 |
From Forest car park up to Signal House. | PeterD | 08/07/2020 |
Newport to Carisbrooke. En-route to Dugswell's FBM completion party that took place earlier than advertised. | Smudge | 05/09/2019 |
Alongside the garden is a splendid sculpture of a signaller, Makes a nice summit feature, in lieu of trespassing into the Signal House garden to bag the sycamore. | Moorponder | 28/09/2018 |
Been here on numerous occassions. Signal House was the home of my ggg grandparents and gg grandfather who worked the forest for a long time. | Angel Lisa | 01/04/2018 |
