The last summit of a massive day. I was thinking about aiming for An Socach, but in the end it just seemed too ambitious. It's about 10km from this Top back to the Dalmunzie Castle Hotel (parking allowed for £5), and that was already pushing it without adding in an extra Munro. | craiging619 | 21/07/2024 |
Final summit of 2 Munro, superb ridge walk/ circuit from Altanour lodge ( by e-bike from Inverey. Nice walking on ridge NE from Mam nan Carn . Cairn on top . Then descend easily down north down ridge keeping slightly to left of rocks. Easily boulder hopped across AlltBeinn Iutharn. Mapped path going NE at confluence in on boggy riverside terrain and first half is hard to follow. But it improves! Bridge at NO 078819. | Denise | 20/07/2024 |
From Mam nan Carn, along the ridge and down to the col, ascending on a path to the summit. Great views to surrounding hills. On to Carn a'Chlarsaich. | LizH | 08/05/2024 |
From Inverey. Mountain bike to Altanour Lodge, then clockwise circuit of Beinn lutharn Bheag, Cam nan Carn & Beinn lutharn Mhor. | geoffh12 | 19/09/2023 |
From Dalmunzie Hotel (£5 parking - worth it) up Glas Tulaichean path for 1.2km. Turned R up fence, crossed it & followed reasonable path & atv track up Creag Dhearg. Good paths on ridge continued over Creag Bhreac to Glas Tulaichean avoiding all peat hags. Very defined path then, fainter over Glas Tulaichean N top, to Carn an Righ. Good traverse path, fading slightly in places, skirting Mam na Carn to Beinn Iutharn Mhor. Back over Mam na Carn on ok path to Beinn Iutharn Bheag. Steep descent direct from summit, S/SE to pick up bits of path round E edge of Loch nan Eun. Great path from waterfalls out.
Despite a wet July, very dry underfoot. Paths are so huge since my first visit 30 years ago!
31km 1500m climb 9hrs total. | Lynnebe | 09/08/2023 |
Second ascent, cycling up Gleann Taitneach from Spittal of Glenshee, to help Jen and Rick celebrate their SMC Full House. Wet in the morning and windy all day but we enjoyed the usual cake champagne and whisky. | NormanW | 01/07/2023 |
Walked in from the Dalmunzie Hotel (£5 parking charge). Group outing to celebrate jenx & nordicstar completing their Munro Tops and SMC Full House. Well done! Revisit for me. Whisky, cake and champagne helped warm me on this cold, wet day! | Dangerous Dave | 01/07/2023 |
A fine Gathering for Rick and my SMC Full House walk. Wet morning and a strong wind on top meant just a dram at the top, followed by champagne and cake sheltering a little below the summit. Beautiful sunshine for our walk out and more celebrations at Dalmunzie after. With friends, Rick and super Bryher! | jenx | 01/07/2023 |

Backpacking route from Spittal of Glenshee. Misty and intermittent rain for much of route but much brighter on final part. Walked along access road past hotel and ascended W side of Craig a'Chaise to reach summit of Creag Dearg. Continued along ridge to Creag Bhreac and then long pull to summit of Glas Tulaichean. Descended on ridge to NNE and then short climb to Glas Tulaichean North Top, with good views to Loch nan Eun. Descended above W shore of Loch and climbed to beallach, then out and back to Mam nan Carn, and short steep climb to Beinn Iutharn Bheag. From here descended roughly S to NE of loch, then gently slopes to Carn a' Chlarsaich East Top, then back to Carn a' Chlarsaich. Continued ridge SE to Creag Easgaidh, and E to Creag Easgaidh East Top. Descended NE to beallach at 677m and long steady climb to fine summit of Carn Bhinnein. Retraced steps for a way then E to Carn a' Gheoidh. Headed S over Carn Mor and taking the track down to the A93, finding route above the | RobertP | 12/07/2021 |

Absolutely epic weekend, on Saturday I got my first Munro since November 2020, hiked in and camped near a picturesque loch and got another Munro on the Sunday. The tent was a total failure (groundsheet let water in each time you touched it) and I’ll need to buy a new / warmer sleeping bag, but all in, a very good weekend.
I set off from the Spittal of Glenshee church at 11:10 on Saturday 15th May and hiked up the north side of Gleann Taitneach to Loch nan Eun, where I found a boggy bit of ground for my tent. I should of kept looking for better spot, but I wanted to crack with the hills. I then headed north for the two Munro tops of Beinn Lutharn Bheag (953m) and Mam nan Carn (986m), there were some nice views from the first, but by the time I got to Mam nan Carn, the mist had set in. This was followed by the first Munro, Beinn Lutharn Mhor (1045m) at 17:45 and nice views north to the snow covered Cairngorms, I was back at the tent for 19:30.
On Sunday 16th May, I headed for the Munro | chillyman8 | 15/05/2021 |
